(Problem disappeared) Forum extremely slow and unreliable starting Sunday

When accessing the forum from my Comcast home network, starting Sunday afternoon, something went wrong.  Now it times out almost every time.  It seems to be getting lost in the Microsoft network.  I assume the forum is hosted at Microsoft.  I am entering this post from a pad on WiFi using the Sbcglobal network, and that seems to be working better.
Anybody else having this problem?

(If you are, you probably can't see this message anyway.)

This problem affects only the forum subdomain.  Access to cakewalk.com is no problem.

No - I'm in germany and the forum subdomain is very very fast.
Much faster then the main site of Cakewalk products.
It's as fast as every other site from other companies.

Maybe that is because a lot of other people cannot get in today.  :)

Any US-based users able to get in using Comcast network?

I'm using Comcast, and check the forum several times a day - performance has been nice and responsive all weekend and all of today (so far).

I have one computer in my household that uses WiFi. The others are Ethernet.  All the Ethernet machines must go through my access point and my WiFi computer usually does too.  All of them are getting hung up on the Cakewalk forum, but no other sites cause any problems.

I connected my WiFi computer to Comcast directly (outside my personal router) and it works OK, so the problem must be related to my router somehow.  It is really peculiar that it would be just this one site and no others.  I have done a full power off cycle of everything including my Comcast modem of course.

Check your LAN settings (Control Panel - Internet Options - Connections).  Make sure it says "Auto detect" instead of a proxy (Unless, of course, you've set up a proxy).

Alternatively, with no proxy set up, you can uncheck all options, (and if you use Firefox, go into Adv. settings and check No Proxy).

Both should work; the first is usually the default setting on systems, while the second does the same but is more efficient.

Thanks.  I did check that setting and it is on.  Meanwhile, it has begun working normally for me again.  The only thing I did in the hour or so between  when it was failing and when it was working was I updated the firmware on my router.  It was only a minor update because I had updated it a month ago.  But that did force a reboot of the router, of course.  I had rebooted the router (a complete power off cycle of everything -- router, switch, PC, and Comcast cable modem) earlier in the day and that had not changed anything.

My TRACERT commands implied routing problems inside the MSN facility, but I may not be interpreting that correctly.

So I don't know what changed, but it is now working normally.

At least it's still here. Northern Sounds appears to be dead in the water. Down over 10 days now.
