Problem with Platinum not finding outdated midi ports [Fixed]

I just want to state a problem I have that I fixed simply just to give a heads up to anyone who might stumble on the problem in the future.

When I installed Platinum I had some project templates which I copied over from X3. They worked fine.

When I replaced my Tascam 1641 interface with the new Tascam 4X4 interface, I started to find that when I would load a project it would say it could not find the 1641 ports. It allowed me to replace them with my 4X4 ports and all was well until I created another project again. The replacement was easy, but the message was annoying.  I took the suggestion of reinitializing the AUD.INI file and the references to the 1641 ports disappeared from the INI file.

Still I would create a new project and this same message would come up again. Maybe I'm just stupid but I finally realized that templates for projects include the settings you have at the time they are saved. Of course, the midi input sources are stored with the template and therefore any project template that includes midi or audio track setups will include the input settings by name and not any generic setting like port 1.

Fortunately I did not have to recreate all the templates again. I just started a project with the old template, ignored the complaint message, fixed the names for the inputs and then saved the template again reusing the old name for the template.

This would apply probably to all templates that you might use that were created before you do any interface or hardware changes. Just something to keep in mind.
