Problem with Sonar LE and tascam US 2x2

So I bought the tascam US 2x2 which comes with SONAR LE. I installed the drivers for the 2x2 (64 bit) and I updated the firmware. When I plug it in, it works and I get the sounds of my laptop through it. I then installed sonar le (64 bit) and registered it. It worked fine with just my laptop and I got sound from it through just my laptop speakers, but when I plugged in the 2x2, it stopped working. I can see where I select the 2x2 as the driver and in/out but when I select it and hit apply, it doesnt work and just goes back to the settings window. it wont let me select anything other than my normal laptop drivers. please advise.
