Problem with bit bridges

Hi everyone

I'm working with X1 and i have 32 bits vst on some projects. Problems happened in 2 projects (so far) . While i'm tracking vocals (no effects on the track) with a loop (so i can choose which take is the best). Stop recording to save my work and while saving Sonar enter in an neverending loop of saving...i had to stop Sonar (ctrl/alt/delete) cause it won't never stops saving and at the end ....nothing is saved...I've received a message saying that bit bridges seemed to be the problem...Tried many times but i'm unable to save. So my question is...since bit bridges might be the problem can i just re-install /repair bit bridges without re-installing Sonar (can i just repair Sonar?) or my plug-in (in that case amplitube metal). I'm planning to make a clean install (windows etc...) soon but i would like to finish the project before. I found a work around which is exporting a mix, importing that mix in Sonar, tracking the vocals and put them back in the initial project...but it would be nice to save some time...

Any thoughts? Comments?

Thanks

I am not sure it is possible to determine when BitBridge fails if the failure is the plug-in or the server. Either way BitBridge is not a separately installable component. While reinstalling BitBridge may solve the problem, more likely avoiding BitBridge entirely by either running jBridge, if 32bit plug-ins must be used in a 64bit DAW, or a 32bit DAW may be a better solution.

Why jBridge more than bit bridges?

Some have reported better results with jBridge. Some have also suggested the running BitBrige as administrator in XP compatibility mode seems to work better. The best solution is to avoid using 32bit plug-ins in 64bit hosts. The 32bit version of SONAR can be installed on a 64bit OS and does not interfere with the 64bit installation of SONAR.

i see...so i guess you can't run 64 bit plug-ins in the 32 bit Sonar version? One more thing, do i have to uninstall bit bridge if i install jbridge?

    Thanks

Here's my take on jBridge, and I've used it a lot, almost 100% until most of my go-to plug-ins went 64 bit.

    1. You don't have to uninstall Bit Bridge
    2. It will allow you to use some 64 bit plug-ins inside a 32 bit host program, but I would stick with SONAR 64.
    3. You will have to go into SONAR's plug-in manager and manually tell which plug-ins to load with jBridge...this can take some time depending on how many 32 bit vsts you have.
    4. In previous versions of SONAR sometimes certain plug-ins had graphics issues, this seems to have been cleaned-up quite nicely with X3 and shouldn't be a problem.
    5. jBridge plug-ins, unlike those using Bit Bridge do not "Sit on Top", they behave as your native 64 bit ones do and you can use the normal vst meneus with them.
    6. It works fine with both synths and regular effects.
    7. It's a dirt cheap alternative to Bit Bridge that works quite well (Plus there's a demo), better for the most part than Bit Bridge....what are you waiting for?

A +1 for jBridge. I have about 5 vst's (including my Focusrite Liquid Mix) that would be useless without jBridge. Try the demo.

JBridge has been around for quite a while now, and seems to be pretty rock-solid.  Some 32-bit plugins still have trouble in JBridge, but it CERTAINLY allows almost all 32-bit plugins configured to use it to work as good or better than they would using BitBridge.

A small investment that has a great potential to extend the use of 32-bit plugins in a 64-bit installation of Sonar.  I think it is well worth it.
