Problem with templates (missing audio files)

I am working on a project and I decided to save it as a template. So I deleted all the audio and MIDI data and saved the template, but now when I start a new project using said template it asks me for some missing audio files... the ones I deleted before saving the template.  Why? What should I do???

A template is for setting up a basic configuration for you to use on multiple projects - It might have soft synths at the ready, the usual number of empty audio tracks you use, plug-ins already inserted in your console - things like that.  Then you save this as a template file, not a regular project file.   When you stripped down your current project to save the track assignments etc as a template, I'm not sure if you deleted the audio correctly and then re-saved - There may be clues in this reply-- ?

    I didn't get your clues...

What I did was  to select all the audio and MIDI clips in my project, then go to Edit --> Delete... selected all the options and clicked OK. Then File --> Save As. Chose type Template and saved into the Templates folder. So then I try to start a new job and I choose the template I just made... and the damn screen comes up asking me to find all this missing audio I deleted.

And I also tried deleting the audio/MIDI files, saving the project, and then saving it as a template.

Hi, Frugihoyi - Thanks for the update. - Darn.  It's a mystery to me.  From what you've described, you've done what you're supposed to do, and I see you even tried deleting audio and MIDI in a project file, and then saved that as a template - still no dice.  I don't get it!  sorry.

Doesn't anyone have any ideas? This is pretty annoying.

That's real weird because I just opened a project, Highlighted the all the tracks and hit delete. "Save as"   "template"  cwt, Close and open Sonar and opened the template and its blank. In other words it's exactly the way I saved it.
Make sure the extension shows as cwt.   Not cwp.

I'm betting, barring just some glitch the other time, what you should be looking at is 'Project Audio under 'File (but you can't fix it from there) and where your Global Audio slot is steered when you do that.
It seems a cwp 'become template can still look for that old data.
Open cake fresh, set a (new?) 'Global folder, then open the template.
