Problems Editing Automation in Track View`

Hey Guys,
IMHO, the wizards at Cakewalk, in their rush to improve Sonar with monthly updates, seem to be creating more problems than usual.
For example:
1. When copying and pasting volume automation, Sonar now copies the whole MIDI clip along with the automation and pastes them both onto the chosen  track.  The problem is that the chosen track already has a MIDI clip on it and it's then covered by not only the automation info but also the MIDI info of the copied track.  This happens when I copy the automation from the open automation track AND when I copy it from the "closed" track.

2. There's often something goofy with my MIDI playback on my exterior synths (Roland XV3080, Virtuoso 2000, Proteus 2000).
Sonar plays through the song once then, on the second pass, there's often no sound from my synths.  I've checked the software version for my MOTU Microlite unit.  For me, this is highly unusual behavior.

I have reverted to version 2017.6 with no success on these particular challenges. Am I missing something here?  Should I revert some more? Whatcha think, please?

    Hi Marvin,

I just tried to copy some automation from one track to another and it worked fine. I right clicked and dragged around the automation envelope while the clip header was on Volume, then went to Edit - Copy Special and selected Track/Bus Automation as the thing to copy. I then went to another track, went to Edit - Paste Special, again selected Track/Bus Automation and it pasted just the automation without disturbing the clips other contents.

As far as the other issue is concerned, check the songs data with the Event Viewer and see if there is anything at the end of the song that is zeroing your volume. If that's the case and you don't have a reset controllers message at the start, it would result in no sound on your second pass. It's probably a good idea to have a reset all controllers message at the start of any sequence anyway : ) Don't know if this is the issue, but hope it helps.
    Cheers

Have you tried using Paste Special ?
There is a check box that gives you the option to Paste only automation.

Looks like Dave and I posted at the same exact time ^^^^^^

I've copied automation as well without issues when replacing automation I edited then wanted to revert. Worked fine. Actually a common step for my process.

    Hi Marvin
Glad you got the automation sorted. Here are the instructions for inserting a midi controller message. The one you want to insert is Midi CC 121 - reset all midi controllers to their default.

I've also pasted below a link to a list of all controllers - I find it handy sometime to refer to it.
