Problems...
Just tried to freeze a soft synth (Electric Piano.) However, everytime I try, Sonar splutters and then emits NO SOUND at all. the same thing when I tried to use the V Vocal. I have to turn off ALL the effects via the icon button for me to use this correctly. Is anyone else having this problem? Is my PC underpowered? I have Sonar X2a installed. Asus P5N motherboard. Windows 7 64.8 gigs RAM. Echo Layla 3g Soundcard. Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 2.4ghz

Just to add, when I freeze the soft synth, the waveform does appear but when I try to play it, there is a crackle of sound and then...no sound at all!

Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 2.4ghz Well... yeah between your CPU and the Echo you might be running a little low on power but I'd say when you are doing CPU intensive stuff like this or mixing/adding effects in general bump up your audio buffers. Also if you haven't optimized your system for audio you should definitely take a look at that. I have an Echo and it was causing a lot of issues on my rather powerful system before optimizing. Something about the legacy PCI slots being bridged instead of having native support. Works now but I bought a USB interface anyway. But yeah... first up increase your buffers. Should. I still have to do that when doing intensive stuff. I only drop them down to their minimum when tracking. Cheers. PS: I'm not a tech so maybe you'll want to call support or wait for one of the other smarter dudes to show up.

#Beepster: you ALWAYS add the same disclaimer, even though of ALL the posters you have thoroughly read and understand the manuals/tutorials better than almost everyone (except maybe John and Bristol Jonesy), so you shouldn't sell yourself short, dude! +1 on your suggestions to the OP... if there are others, maybe they will put in their 3 cents worth in, too. ***accounting for inflation, of course***

Heh heh. Thanks, OlSkool. I try but I've got a looong way to go. I still only understand a fraction of what gets discussed on here and when I do chime in it's not always accurate because I misread something. But hey... never gonna get as good as the big boys if I don't jump into the pool once in a while and if my ramblings occasionally help someone, bonus. Cheers. Hope you've been well. ;-)

I do not believe your Lalyla3G has anything to do with it. I have been runninmg the Echo Lalyla3G csrd for over 2 years-NEVER a hiccup. That is a top notch card with some of the best drivers available. Deefinitely look to tuning up your system and as mentioned the buffers. The newest drivers for the LAyla3G are 8.6, is that what you have?

Your settings are your issues and\or the Layla3G drivers are not up to date. Do you have all the updated drivers for all your HW? Video card, etc?

Thanks, buddy. Just try to give back as much as I can. I wouldn't be nearly as familiar with the program if it wasn't for you guys. It'll be a year in spring that I installed Sonar and I'm finally getting to a point where I'm not scratching my head trying to do every little thing. It's nice being able to just make stuff happen... even if I still hit some walls occasionally. Hope all is well in g_randyland. ;-)
