Problems using Addictive Drums as a plugin.

I have recently upgraded my system to: Surface Pro 4, 16 gigs 512 Hd. Windows 10, Sonar Platinum, Roland Quad Capture.
Everything seems to be working fine. I want to use Addictive Drums as a plugin in Sonar. As a stand alone synth the drums sound fabulous. When I try to use them as a plugin in Sonar they sound all distorted. Any help would truly be appreciated.
Thom.

Ok, we get that they sound distorted, do they look distorted?

What are the meters in Sonar showing?

You might have to trim the outputs of AD back quite a bit to prevent them from distorting in Sonar - I have to do the same with BFD

Does anything change if you increase your buffer size/latency?
And what samplerate are you running at?

I have backed the trim way down. although the levels drop the sound is still distorted. all the meters show normal. nothing should be overdriven. and as a stand alone synth it sounds great.

How have you inserted the plugin into Sonar? Describe the exact steps please.

I was thinking this might need to be looked at as well.......(keeping my sample rate the same (48k in my case) in standalone as well as in Sonar hasn't produced any issues with any synths).

What control did you use to trim the levels down?  The Sonar track fader, track gain knob or the fader(s) in the mixer section of AD.  Are you using AD with a single stereo out or are you outputing each drum to a separate track?

AD runs hot and almost always needs to be turned down in the mixer section.

I agree that AD is hot even as a stand alone synth,  I have adjusted the trim levels so that it is almost inaudible. The distortion is still there.  When using AD in Sonar I have all the drums in 1 track. Could this be my problem? I need to map my drums 1rst?

    I would.

Get all the kit pieces onto their own separate audio tracks
Delete any duplicate or unused tracks
Get the routing mapped properly inside AD2

That still shouldn't get all these distortion issues. I often keep a stereo version of AD2 while trying out ideas. You never answered the questions about samplerate and buffer size. Also it might be interesting to find out if the distortion persists during bounces/exports or only during live playback.

But, where are you adjusting the trim levels - inside AD, or on the Sonar track?

I want to thank all that responded to my AD post.
I tried all suggested fixes with no success
I uninstalled cakewalk and a fresh install and all is good.
Wish I would have done this 3 days ago. I'm happy now so lookout Platinum here I come...
