Problems with Audio

I just loaded Sonar 8.5 onto a PC XP laptop - the laptop itself is only a year old,
and has all the correct specs.

I'm opening up some cwp files from a previous recording session and I'm able to
see all the tracks.  However, I'm not getting any audio.

I'm actually trying to get the audio through my M-Box interface - I've loaded
ProTools onto the PC and the M-Box lights up.
But I'm not getting sound from Sonar to the M-Box...and everything else (YouTube, etc.) is
playing through the laptop speakers, not the M-Box.
Checked in Audio Devices and M-Box is the Sound Playback default device and the
default for MIDI music playback.
Also the default on the Voice Playback...However, SoundMAX is the default for Sound
and Voice Recording with no other options.

In Sonar, in Options/Audio/General Tab: there are NO options for Playback Timing
Master (or for Record Timing Master).
In Options/Audio/Drivers: The only choice is SoundMAX.
In Options/Audio/Driver Profile: The only choice is SoundMAX.
I'd like to figure out how to put in M-Box as one of the choices...
It's actually listed as a choice in Options/MIDI Devices.

I realize this might be a question for Digidesign, but given some of the specifics
related to Sonar, I thought I'd try here first.  I'm mainly a Mac guy these days;
I used to work with PCs but have forgotten most of what I knew.

If any of y'all can help, it would be MOST appreciated.

Sonar need to recognize your audio interface and it is usually because your Audio drivers are not set to ASIO in the Audio Options menu.
On my laptop it goes like this.
Boot computer with USB interface pluged in
Always plug the interface into the same USB port.
Go to Control panel and make sure the USB device is the default. If it is not then unplug it  and re plug and listen for USB activation tone and look for the pop up telling you it is plugged in.
A good way to see whats happening is if you hear the windows log on through your laptop speakers and not the interface ( headphones) .
Set Sonar to ASIO mode and re start so it can run the audio profile thing.
Go to audio options to see if the card shows now. Should be a bunch of inputs and outputs to check.
If you audio card  still doesn't show  you might want to re install the drivers or look for updated drivers.
It can go on and on but that's the basics

    Thanks.

FWIW, a friend of mine had a similar setup - and, for him at least, it turns out the Mbox is only "Pro Tools" - and isn't recognized by other hosts.   That's according to him.

I don't how it works on Windows XP, but on my Mac, I've been able to run
everything through the MBox - Garageband, Audacity, DP, everything...

But like I said, I don't know what the stats are for PCs...
