Problems with Kontakt 4 in Sonar 8.3

I have two problems inside sonar that don't occur in the standalone:
1) Whenever I load an instrument from the factory library, it informs me that it can't find the convolution file for it.
2) The instrument UI is messed up.  For example, for the electric guitar, it loads the wooden background, but none of the buttons, knobs, etc.

Any help is appreciated.  Thanks!

Which OS? 32 or 64bit?
are you running X3 in 32bit or 64bit?
are you running Kontakt 32bit or 64bit?

1) Windows 7, 64 bit
2) I don't have X3.  It's still Sonar 8.3.  It looks like my shortcut is in the x86 Program folder.  Does that mean it is running as 32-bit?  I don't know how to tell.
3) I am running the 32-bit version.   The 64-bit versions are not showing up, even though I added the VST folder that has them, and scanned for VSTs.

Kontakt 4 and Sonar 8.3 are pretty old. Did this combination ever work for you?

From the symptoms, it looks like the resource file is not getting loaded, but it should not be working in standalone either. You can try copying the nkr file into the same folder as the nki you are loading and see if it can be found there.

No.  I haven't had this combination on Windows 7.  They ran together well on Windows XP.

I'll play around with the settings and Google to see if I can figure out what an nkr and nki are, when I get a chance.  Thanks for the responses.

nki extension is what Kontakt uses for Instruments, like violin, cello, muted trumpet, staccato trumpet, etc...

nkr extension is a Kontakt Resource Container.

Whatever you are running in 32-bit mode will not deal with 64-bit anything.  You can access 32-bit plugins in a 64-bit Sonar, but you cannot access 64-bit plugins in a 32-bit Sonar.

You can try rebuilding the database in Kontakt.  It seems like things got moved around and Kontakt cannot find them, so if you relocated any parts of the Kontakt content, please detail that here.

I just used the default installation options.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Kontakt 4, which didn't help.  I have an SSD drive, and My Documents is set to be a folder on the SSD drive.

Do you have the latest update applied to Kontakt?

Do you have the latest Windows Update maintenance applied?

Please right-click on the launch icon for Sonar, and post the path for it.  It seems to me that you might be running a 32-bit Sonar in your Windows 7 x64.  You can certainly do that, but you are then limited to only being able to access plugins that are 32-bit.  NO 64-bit plugins will be able to be loaded.

I am quite curious as to what you have installed, and the steps you took during installation, and also if you did any attempts to uninstall and reinstall I would like to know precisely what steps you took.

I am quite sure that whatever is going on with your system is completely due to either installation problems, possibly a failure during uninstall to completely remove things like hidden folders and registry keys and such, or possibly some sort of situation where you have a 64-bit Windows and a 32-bit Sonar, and maybe some of the 32-bit Kontakt wasn't properly installed.

But then again, as I typed the above, I also recalled that you said your issues don't appear in the stand-alone version of Kontakt.  That would seem to point to something amiss in Sonar, but I am also wondering if that stand-alone Kontakt is 32-bit or 64-bit, because that could be different circumstances if you are running a messed up 32-bit Kontakt in a 32-bit Sonar.
