Problems with Line6 TonePort DI-S?

I'm running Sonar 8.5 Producer, and I recently upgraded to a new Compaq desktop with an Intel i5 quad core proc, 6GB RAM, and Window7 64 bit. In my old system, I was using an Echo Mia sound card for the signal out to KRK V4 monitors and a Line6 TonePort (TP) DI-S for the input for my guitar. I wasn't able to install the Echo into the new system (long story, not worth going into), so I ended up using the TP for both my input and output signal.

I'm getting a LOT of "crackling" when I play back, through either the monitors or through my headphones, and I'm wondering if anyone is aware of any known issues with the TP DI-S or, alternatively, if there are any configuration settings I should be looking at to see if I can get rid of the noise.

Thanks.

try ASIO driver mode if it has ASIO drivers.

    OPTIONS>AUDIO>DRIVER MODE = ASIO
    click APPLY.

if that doesn't help, click on the ASIO button at the bottom of that same popup window and it will pop up the line6 software panel.  somewhere in that line 6 software there are settings for the hardware buffers.  increase them.

Are getting any "crackling" on the regular PC audio? - not the recording audio.  There has been a lot of problems with popping and crackling in some Windows 7 systems.  There can be several problems causing it - no one fix for all.

The Line 6 gear works best if your USB has a VIA chipset. On top of that, Line 6 drivers aren't that good. You could try ASIO4ALL.

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.
