Prochannel feature request - your thoughts?
I was wondering if it would be possible to have the EQ section of the Prochannel display the incoming frequency. Fabfilter's Pro-EQ does this - pre or post-EQ. The Fruityloops EQUO (a detachable VST) also can). This would allow us to see what frequencies need cutting or boosting, and if we could switch to post-eq, what the results are. I find that under some circumstances the Prochannel EQ is very subtle, and a visual aid would be great.

that would be ideal for any eq.. the LP64 could be on that list for an update as well,.. (besides the dropouts that occur when adjusting the bands/frequencies) the voxengo-eqs can even show the frequencies accross different channels.. I don't have the time to wait for those kind of updates,.. I have ozone and voxengo gliss eq, besides others, that show me those frequencies, but then if you do...

you just mean a builtin spectrum analyzer? that would be good for prochannel, IMO, but for LP64 or any other that is not built into X1 like prochannel is, it's not a big deal for me to use SPAN.

I'd like to see the PC move in the direction of the URS Classic Console Strip Pro, having the ability to theoretically adjust saturation characteristics to emulate tube, transistors, tape, or a combination, and to be able to emulate a larger variety of classic hardware.

The thing that caught me in this post was "incoming". I don't think any of the EQs with built-in spectral info show that unless you bypass the effect. I'd just put an analyzer of choice (I use SPAN 1.0 still since the display is larger than 2.0 and I don't need all the other stuff) where you want it. I put one instance on my Submaster bus and just solo when I want to see a single track's info. With your EQ of choice on the track you should be able to see changes downstream as you make them.

If I'm not mistkaken, the Timeworks EQ from SONAR 2 could do the pre/post display behind the EQ bands. I always forget about that one...

Thanks for all the cool work-around suggestions. I am also using the above method, but with Analyst. Is SPAN from Sonar 2? Can its VST plugs be installed into X1?

Thanks Susan, looks like a really useful tool. I took a brief look at its manual, and it always shows output frequencies. But it has some other very intersting features that make it awesome - and it is FREE

I wish Pro Channel had a Undo/Redo and Output volume control on the EQ. Cheers Steve.

Span's good, yeah. But you can also quite quite a long way with the Analyst plug-in the comes with Sonar. It's cheap and cheerful, but it's reasonably informative.

Plazma Thanks Susan, looks like a really useful tool. I took a brief look at its manual, and it always shows output frequencies. But it has some other very intersting features that make it awesome - and it is FREE you can put it in the FX bin before any other FX to get the analyzer of the input. except for prochannel, of course, since it's integrated into sonar, there's no "before" slot to put anything.

Not quite correct, that. If the ProChannel is set to "post", then it comes after the Effects Bin.

stevec If I'm not mistkaken, the Timeworks EQ from SONAR 2 could do the pre/post display behind the EQ bands. I always forget about that one... Still a great tool. Shame they never got round to fixing the minor but annoying bug that it grabs the screen attention so you have to 'click away' to regain control of Sonar. Would also be great if the bakers bundled it up as a separate install as it's a PITA to have to go rummaging for that stupid direct x patch just to reinstall it! But yeah, I'll +1 on having a decent frequency analyser in yer EQ, dead handy. Child
