Producer 8.5 Upgrade to X1 - Using a Dual Core X64 AMD Athlon64 4200 Processor

I just purchased the upgrade from Producer 8.5 to Producer X-1. Then I noticed the sys requirements. I'm using a Dual Core X64 AMD Athlon64 4200 Processor and am concerned now that X-1 will not work on my computer. Does anyone know if my system will run fine with X-1. It runs just fine with Producer 8.5, and I see that X-1 is mostly aimed at making the work flow process easier, so I assumed it shouldn't be a problem to upgrade. Does anyone know if I'll be fine with X-1?

You have the software. Install it and find out. then you can tell all of us.
If it ran 8.5 OK there's no reason it shouldn't run X1.

I'm guessing that you use WIn XP.

Seth has mentioned that because of the updated GUI, X1 really benefits from a 1 GIG graphics card. But with an AMD 64 x2 4200 processor you're obviously not realistically expecting top performance. I have that processor with 2 GIG of RAM in my 5 year old desktop that I relegated for use as a file server. BTW it ran SONAR 8.0 OK and was my DAW when SONAR 6 was released. Times move on and as hardware performance oustrips software demands I wouldn't mind having a more powerful processor than my current quad core i7 920 with hyperthreading and 12 GIG RAM

Max: it will run, you might not be able to pull 48 tracks though..
my suggestion is to goto AMD and update the chipset drivers and
video drivers. il bbl to see how your doing..jon

If it's any help at all, I've just upgraded my graphics card from an old ATI Radeon X1050 with 256 MB on board memory to a ATI Radeon HD5450 with 1 Gig on board memory. There is a difference in that I can no longer get screenset changing to stop playback no matter how much abuse I give it, but it's not a huge difference.

It might be a little quicker changing SS as well but not 'WOW' different. The rest of my under powered specs are in my sig and it runs absolutely fine on it. I do use an outboard mixer though so latency is a non-issue for me.

I'm running X1 smoothly on a similar processor, except mine's a 6400.  At first, I was running only 4GB RAM.  The only problem I encountered was popping and clicking noise while adjusting VST plugins.  Mind you, this was only when the VST interface was open and I was actually manipulating settings.  Even this lone problem disappeared when I upgraded the RAM to 6GB.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I think I should be ok. I've been running 8.5 since Dec 2009 without issues. I've got 4 gigs of ram and a great video card. When I saw the system requirements though I thought Hmmmm maybe this is going to be a problem. But the general feedback from everyone is that it shouldn't, so I'm downloading and installing this weekend. Thanks again to all and have a Great Weekend!

    Max,

you'll be fine.  I run the same set up, basically.  Running tracks isn't the problem, but putting a bunch of processor intense stuff up at once like soft synth and convoltuion reverb.  That could be a problem, but it would have been on 8.5, too.
