Professional vs Platinum

Okay guys I know, sorry, another pro vs plat thread. I've read a few others in the past but just wanted a tad more clarity on something.

I currently use Professional.

My sonar journey was
8.5
X1 Producer
X1 Producer Expanded
X2 Producer

I missed out X3.

My question is, I currently use Professional and the only real differences I can see from the comparison lists are a couple of virtual instruments and a few plugins. A lot of these virutal instruments and plugins I have carried over from X1 and X2 so it seems the only features I'm really missing totally are VocalSync and Drum Replacer. My understanding is the core programme is exactly the same (it has to be right?) and it is extra plugins that  is essentially the difference between pro and plat? Or am I missing something?

I know that going forward platinum is more likely to have interesting features added and professional not, but if I'm right an upgrade would be very expensive for me for what appears to essentially be four or five plugins?

Just wanted to check incase I'm missing something as I'm not opposed to paying more but professional seemed like the right option at the time.

You're essentially correct.  Things like Vocalsync and drum replacer are considered 'core program' in Plat, not plugins. (Even though they're technically plugins, they're integrated into the system).

There are other 'perks' of being a Plat owner though,  for example until the end of March there is a special offer renewal price of $99 for Platinum, which is the same as for Professional,  so had you gone from X2 Producer to Sonar Platinum you'd now be renewing for only $99 and the price different would have balanced out....

Hi Neo, I did mention in my original post I had looked through that list to help and was just making sure I hadn't missed anything 'hidden' if that makes sense.

There are also more ProChannel modules available and you get the QuadCurve EQ Zoom built in as well. And it has a couple of mastering effects. Also, you get Addictive Drums 2 Producer Bundle vs. the Solo edition in Professional.

Both have a QuadCurve PC module. The differences are the Platinum module has a zoom function which opens the QuadCurve to a much larger size and it also has a built in spectrum analyzer.

Your post didn't specify which list you looked at specifically.  That list also has updated as the product developed.

Make sure you understand how much better the zoomEQ is in plat than it is in Professional though.
