yo sheep, have a peep!

Go deep and begin to reap somethin' in my heap to make ya weep! (I'll leave the rap to Tristan I guess.)

SoundClick site

Pick whatever, I dont care but make sure to include the one sung by Orphan. It just makes sense to include that one as its a true P5 collab.

Phil: Nice choices and not a hint of funkiness. You are a man of many talents. Enough crawling from me, now go get me some Sheeps Head Soup... please... curious to see if we still have horns... they don't boil well!

Stuart: Track added. Keeps evolving doesn't it. Is that the 4th coat of Mr Sheen

DA: Thanks for the link. Added Introspective plus 2day + 4ever as it caused such a reaction on this forum when you announced it

Aggie: Found your link eventually. Don't know why I didn't go straight to the Wiki

All: Thats everything up to date. There are plenty of others who should be listed... only got 16 "bands" so far, the Wiki lists Thirty Nine...

this station is definitely getting some play, cause my soundclick statistics have skyrocketed up to 4 or 5 plays a day for the 2 songs selected.

The station is really beginning to take shape. Some really good tracks on there. Shame I'm dragging everyone else down . This thread should be stickied.

Jan, thanks for the heads up. I new it would have some impact, but not as much as it has. If my results are anything to go by, you should, find yourself quietly creeping up your respective charts. This could be a real coup for p5ers. Going to get a bit crowded at the top of the electronica chart though

Yep, just found that out...turns out I went completely the wrong way, gotta turn down the temperature big time
As in freezing. It's gonna be slushy.
And of course, I don't have three of the effects, nor any of the dim pro stuffs.

The FX I'm sure a man of your talent can work around, all except the BBE Maximiser are free anyway. The DimPro stuff is a bit trickier

thanks for the add and yeah, that would be me on the horn - although I have been surprised over the years on how many comments on different songs where people have said, "cool trumpet sample"......

.....Will presented us with a Cello solo....

Bass. Double Bass. Contrabass. Bullfiddle. Stand-Up Bass. Bass with a Bow. Really large expensive chunk of wood with strings. Really...

...I don't care what you call it...

...just don't call it a cello....

Not being in the business it might be hard for others to understand but---cellists are snobby orchestral musicians. Bass players are cool!

i don't know will
how can a woman cellist be snobby when every night she, you know, spreads her legs like that
takes that intimate relationship with the instrument to a special place

who was that woman cellist who used to perfom naked and under water and ...
and what happened to that career?

Now Will, that just comes over as arrogant elitism from someone that plays a mopstick and a few bits of string.

And besides Wrench has just converted me to being a Cello fan the image he paints is so much nicer than a "chunk of wood with strings".

Anyway, when do we get your nominations...

I think violinists may be snobbier.

Maybe the smaller the instrument the snobbier the player?

This doesn't apply to synths, of course: a Nord Micromodular is as cool as a big analog modular..... well, not that cool, but cool nevertheless.

Well Jan, in theory what you said would seem perfectly logical. I should sadly point out, however, that this particular posture that you mention is in general soley reserved for the instrument. Trust me on this one...

Now Will, that just comes over as arrogant elitism from someone that plays a mopstick and a few bits of string

Yup Trevor, you're right. Forgive me. I tell people all the time "...if you can fit it through a door without turning it into splinters, then you're qualified to play it..."

I think violinists may be snobbier.
.....
Maybe the smaller the instrument the snobbier the player?

Yeah FAC, there does seesm to be an inverse relationship that way. We don't even WANT to talk about piccolo players...

So Trevor, I would very much like to participate in the party, but I don't have anything to give you. Every single thing that I've written (except for the 1500 unfinished things) has been for other people that I can't share. I'll do what I can to tidy up one of those backlog of unfinished pieces and toss something up on Soundclick. But I fear it will not be soon...

Blipp: Track selection updated. Personally I think this is a much better track, but this isn't the place for critique.

Tim: Couple of nice choices there. Thanks.

Will: Well that's it then, all talk and no music. Come in here telling all how to play and you've no music of your own... what are you, some kind of classical trained professional musician?

Just whenever Will. I am hoping you and possibly B_Rock will push the boundaries at some point. Although I don't think B's comms reach to Soundclick.

Well, first of all Trevor, I have to bump this cause I don't think Wrench saw my reply concerning cellists above.

Second, I have to congratulate you on your two new children. I didn't know!

And third, yes, I'm all talk. I actually don't even play an instrument. I just like to hang out here and chat, seems like a cool bunch of people. I AM learning a lot about loops and VSTs and fancy words like quantization. Now you know with the IQ of your average symphony player, such multi-syllable words never come up. The best we can do might be "Allegro Vivace", and even that's stretching it!

Seriously, lots of times I come home from work and the last thing I wanna do is deal with yet more music. That doesn't mean I won't get something up for you though, this station is a very cool idea and many thanks for coming up with the thought.

will re: cellists
obviously, you have more experience in these matters
i've only known one cellist, not female and a software developer Unix guy on top of that
he plays in the Mpls Civic Orchestra -- now I thought this would just be a sort of vanity organization, but they're actually quite good
the members just have other lives in addition to their music and don't have near the demanding performance schedule and are able to rehearse the same piece for more than a few days before they have a concert

i get the same thing with computer - you're on one all day how can you stand to be on one all night
well let's just say i'm not working for 'the man' at night
people who take on side projects at night and weekends -- now that I don't understand

the soundclick radio station is just a first step
people with successful stations run them with enough discipline to trim off old pieces and constantly bring in new pieces
this is undoubtedly why lost sheep is running a crew of 3 -- perhaps clones
this is a great start

now we need someone willing to take on that pod casting with a fresh ~hour broadcast every week
there's probably some place on line that offers some sort of template for this
we don't lack for enough new material when one could supplement new work with pieces from the substantial vaults
may even be able to focus 20 minutes of the hour or so to one 'artist' every week
it's gonna happen

Well the technical side is very easy, I'll try and set up a test one this afternoon if you like.

The real probelm is getting someone with a golden voice to introduce the tracks and perhaps even through in a few bits of news etc.

Although I don't think B's comms reach to Soundclick.
Hey, Sheep (now in the plural sense): I really don't care to Soundclick anything myself. These things I post here are rough, live, and solo "instrument" one-offs. I post them for you guys. Either to demonstrate a technique, have some fun, or just to say, "Hey. This is cool. Let me show this to my friends."
I do think that the Project5 radio idea is the *bomb*, though, but I think the stuff I have up would bog you down. I want to see this work.

That said: if you want something, take it. If you search P5.com under B Rock, there's 8 or 9 things there. I don't know how the logistics for SC would work; I guess that I'd have to temporarily "bunk in" with someone. Pick something if you feel it's appropriate AND that it compliments what everyone else has going on there.

Just not that Schoentell crap. Maybe the piano piece might fit, or that Trigger Finger guitar. You won't "hurt my feelings" either way.
