Project Folders Anomaly?

Whenever I open an existing project where I have the song set up to store in its own project folder, I have to untick the box that says to save the project in its own folder! If I do not, it tells me that the folder already exists as if I was trying to save to that folder. All I am trying to do is open the song, not save it. What gives? Is that normal?

Try holding down Shift and open the project and see if it still happens.

How are you getting to this dialog box?  When you try to open a project, from where and how are you doing it?

The dialog box pops up when I try to open a song. It pops up before the song will load. It's weird.

Is it possible that you changed your folder preferences after the song was created so that it is in a folder that is different than your current default folder?  I think X! created a new default location for project files than what 8.5.3 and earlier used.  Under Preferences - Files - Folder locations - Project folder  is that location different than where the project file for the song you are working on is?

I have this happen too randomly. I'm not sure what I'm doing to cause it either.

I'll have a project that I've been working on ... I'll go to open it up and bam, it says folder already exists then I have to rename it before it will load.

Maybe you are loading a cwb (bundle) and not a cwp (project) file? Bundle files need to be expanded before they can be opened. If you save a bundle for backup in the same location as the project file and then you open the bundle by accident, you will get that exact behavior. X1 will try to expand the bundle version and complain that the directory already exists.

The bundle thing makes sense. I will try the CWP and get back with you on that. Thank you.
