Project Studio Handbook

I stop in at a forum for digital recording, some of the people who stop in and post there are already professionals, working or owning studios, others are just like us, at various stages of proficiency. The problem over there is one of attitude, alot of my gear is bigger than your gear, analyze recording techniques of the greats to death, etc., but I found this link in one of the recent posts, and remember going to it often for information over the years, so I thought I would post it here and share it with y'all. There are sections on midi, mastering, compression, eq, and other things. Some of you may have already learned some of this stuff from other sources, some things might be new to you, but I have found you can never get enough information, so use it as you like, or ignore it, just hoping some one gets something from it.

There is a lot there, but for some reason, those who could benefit the most from it will probably just stop in here and ask for assistance.
Do you have "read tutorial #8" as a copy and paste in notepad some where???

no, that's not available in MC or even in the forum. we're just funnin'

macros are only for software apps like WORD and EXCEL. basically you can create a series of commands (including text messages) and assign that to a "macro key" on the keyboard, so you can just hit something like ALT-1 and then it will execute that string of commands for you.

Gambler's Choice, have you found a similar site dedicated to live performing? I haven't found anything basic enough for my primitive needs.

I mean primitive. Nothing with references to new technology like 'wheel' or 'fire'.

Meadowman, I have been out of the live performance scene for so long, actually not my choice, the police kept a vigil on my car parked in the bar parking lots around town, figured since they couldn't bust me for playing so loud, they would get me for dui...how rude...but I'll nose around and see if I can find something. Any thing in particular?

Well, it's better than getting arrested for bad rhymes (a felony in my town). ..looking for basic amplification setups, avoiding feedback, setting up a monitor, that kind of thing. Maybe integrating Cakewalk into the performance.
