Project folders
I'm just returning to Sonar after a year or so, and I swear the older versions used to automatically fill in the name for a new folder when doing a SaveAs. I would click "up" to get to the level above the current project, type in the new project name and Sonar would fill in the name for a new project folder for the project and audio. Or maybe I dreamed that ... dream or not, it would sure be nice if it worked that way.

That would be cool, but I don't think SONAR ever worked that way and I don't think it can. As with other programs, when you enter the file name, it's just temporary until you hit Save. At that point SONAR knows what you intend to name the file. It can't create a folder based on the file name until you confirm the name by hitting Save, and by that time, it's too late to create the folder.

I'm pretty sure when you clicked outside of the filename textbox it grabbed what you entered and applied it to the folder name textboxes. I swear it's true!! :)

Are you confusing this with the "Create New Project" dialog? The folder is created there when a project file is initially named (matching the project file name). The "Save As..." dialog is not the same.

mettelus - Could be. It's been a while. I just paid attention and the new project dialog is actually updating the folder names on the fly. Now that I think about it, doing a SaveAs defaults to the same directory/folder, so a new folder name being automatically populated wouldn't make a lot of sense. OTOH, it seems like navigating up to the default parent would be a reasonable action to trigger automatic folder name population. In the grand scheme I guess it's not *that* big of a deal ... except when it's not happening :)

Craig - I'm not even sure I remember it happening, much less which version(s) from P8 - S8.5 it might have been happening in :)
