Project will no longer open in X1c...HELP???
Boy o boy, have I been having a crash session with Sonar X1c lately... right now, I can't get a project to open. Here's some background. I purchased Sonar X1 at guitar center not too long ago, and isntalled x1a, b, and c immediately after downloading. I started a project that I have been working on till now. The project contains a couple of instances of SampleTank 2.5, and that plugin requires me to open Sonar X1 in administrative mode. I have multiple instances even though its multi-timbral because I use plugin effects in its instrument tracks, so I can't just run one instance of the ST2.5 since each instrument from it requires different effect plugins. Anyways, I was working on the project and I cut some clips up (hold alt+click). Afterwards, the tracks of those clips would no longer play! I don't know why. Then I tried to open up the SampleTank vst that one of the tracks had (to see if something was muted somewhere) and Sonar crashed. And that project will no longer open... crashes every time I open it. Help???

Ok, this project is officially dead. It will not open, period. I've been sitting here for the past 20 minutes trying to open this file and it won't. Tried restarting, did not work. I can't believe I dropped $400 for a software that will no longer open the project that I've been spending an entire week on.

Hi vaultwit- Did you try opening it in Safe mode? If it's the same as in 8.x and previous versions, that would mean holding down the Shift key while the project loads. You should then be able to bypass any plugins that might be causing problems. -Susan

Try opening the project while holding shift. Don't load the synths.

Ok, so I totally did not know about the "hold shift" thing, but I tried it and I got some interesting results: The first time, it opened in safe mode and I was given the option to load or not load plug-ins. I loaded everything except SampleTank, since I had thought that was the culprit. The project loaded, but no SampleTank, which doesn't help because SampleTank was a big chunk of my project. So I closed it, and did the same thing--hold shift. This time, the pop up to load plugins did not appear, and the project opened normally. Thinking the problem was fixed, I opened the project again WITHOUT holding shift, and crash again. So I shift-opened, and it magically opened normally again. So I hit save. Now, it will open normally even without shift-opening. What the???? Am I supposed to just ignore this and keep using Sonar as if nothing happened? I'm genuinely confused.

I have use Sample tank free some time ago and found it to be a problem. There are other sample players around. Edit I wanted to post this before but you can go to the CW directory and right on Sonar--.exe then go to properties then security and give your self full permissions. This is the same as run as administrator except its permanent.

John I have use Sample tank free some time ago and found it to be a problem. There are other sample players around. The main thing for me is not the sampletank player itself, but the actual samples. If there was a way to load the SampleTank samples onto, say, Dimension Pro, I would do it. And perhaps even Kontakt Player? Haven't tried Kontakt Player, but if it can play SampleTank samples and doesn't cause crashes on Sonar, I'd be open to give it a try...

i don't think you can use your own libraries in kontakt player, it just goes into "full demo" mode(?) but you could convert the ST instruments using, say, Extreme Sample Converter, which converts to both SFZ and NKI formats, amongst many others also, why not insert ST with multiple stereo outs, and apply your fx there? (instead of multiple instances, and i'm assuming it'll do multiple outs) good luck!
