Projects Hang with Spinning Cursor(RESOLVED)

Hello All,
I am hopeful to find a resolution to this.
48 hours ago all was well with SONAR Platinum.  I've made no changes to my Win10 system. It's a new computer purchased within last 3 months.  Just 48 hours ago all was well.

I returned to the project the from the night before. The project opens but the cursor spins and spins. (SONAR is looking for something). I did a safe open (holding the shift key down) and disabled all plugins. Still the cursor spins.
I can access the general functionality of the interface, open preferences, turn on and off effects, remove plugins. However, the project simply won't play.

This project is not using any instance of Melodyne.  I tested other projects about 1 in 2 will open.  Last night was a simple recording of 5 audio tracks.  All worked fine.  Then this morning the same result. Opened the project with a spinning cursor.  I find it strange I cannot even get the project to work in SAFE mode. Still hangs up with the spinning cursor.
I've always been able to sort out the issues in the past but this one has stumped me completely. Of course, clients are wanting to hear updates to their work and I am fending them off as best I can. But I need to find some kind of solution as soon as possible.

I know there is a new update to Melodyne (4.1) But shouldn't a project with no instance of Melodyne open?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Perhaps there's something else bogging down your PC?  Antivirus maybe?
How long are you letting it spin before giving up?  I've had larger projects occasionally take a minute to open, where all i see is the spinning circle until it finally opens.  And that's with nothing else significant on the PC.

Posting your PC specs would help too.

I am only running the Windows Defender suite.  Same as always. Here are my computer specs.
    Intel i5-6400 @2.70 GHZ , 8GB Ram, 64bit operating system.
I just installed Melodyne 4.1 and about to see if that fixes the spinning cursor.

Could it be related to Sound Drivers? Perhaps SONAR is looking for my Focusrite 2i2 drivers and it cannot find it?

I have had a few of these spinning donuts since the last update.  (not sure which update - WIN or Sonar ...)  Things were so nice in September (in many other ways too

50% of the time I go do the dishes, sweep the floor, rake the leaves, change the oil on the car and then the project is open when I come back.

I have a had a few spinning donuts where the original would not open, but the auto save version will open.  No idea.

I watch task manager when Sonar is opening and it seems to load a little RAM and then goes no further...others it sits at approx 100M of Ram and then 5 minutes later is jumps to approx 1400M of RAM.  (which I expect as these projects have 5 or more VSTi in them)

Ineresting thing is that if the project fails to open, I have to use task manager to stop SonarPRD.  Then my ASIO driver not longer works and I have to restart the PC.

Okay.. well.. I downloaded the Melodyne 4.1  - rebooted - and projects are now opening!  It concerns me that a 3rd party piece of software Melodyne can disrupt SONAR in such a fashion, especially, with  Projects with no instance of Melodyne were affected.
I will see what happens over the next several days.  Perhaps something else occurred in the reboot besides updating Melodyne.

It is for this reason that I rarely ever do not render Melodyne before closing a project.
Sometimes I may forget a clip, but for the most part I do not leave un-rendered Melodyne in a project.

So I am not thinking my issues are Melodyne related.

I thing in the 11-16 update there is something for Melodyne coming too.

This is one reason I have VST scanning set to manual.  If I need it, I kick it off.  Is yours set to background by chance?  This could explain where an errant plug-in can hold things up even if a project isn't using any.
