Serious bug: Projects with Melodyne REs open in a transfer mode destroying data

I have noticed with opening projects that sometimes the Melodyne region effects don't play. There's no sound from them, but the rest of the project plays fine. If I open the region, there are no blobs, and the interface seems to be in a mode requiring transfer. I have not clicked the transfer buttons -- seems like bad karma -- but I have moused over one of them in the screenshot here.

And then here, I have closed the project and reopened it, and the region effects are working correctly again. Note the interface is correct, and the blobs are back. Audio playback also worked.

In this case, I had the open the project 4 times to get it to work. I cannot think of any other difference. Usually I have to reopen at most once when this happens, very rarely more than twice. At other times projects open fine and don't have this issue, it just seems kind of random. It does occur more often after a system crash. I am pretty much assured to have to open a project twice to get the region effects working after a crash.

Anyway, it's an issue.
On the latest build (2017.07)

Oh, and the really bad news. Sometimes ALL THE EDITS GET FORGOTTEN, as was the case with this project. An entire day's worth of work has been lost, and no amount of reopening would restore them -- add clips appeared as if they have just been freshly analyzed. Luckily I had an earlier file with most of the work, and here is what the edit above should have looked like:

This is a pretty serious issue.

Hi, anyone got any suggestions on this one? It keeps happening, I keep losing edits.

I have nothing to offer since I haven't come across these issues myself.   In the images it looks like you do have Melodyne Studio 4.1, the latest build?

Simple solution is do the edit and Render the Region FX.  Do not save a project and close it with active region FX's.

If you are paranoid, clone the take mute and archive the original work on the clone.

May appear belts and braces but not lost anything this way.

Sorry for the late reply. I was on travel. Yes it is Studio 4.1.1.011, the latest update.

I tend to do a lot of edits, and so like to keep them open, which is the cause of my problems. I don't like rendering and reapplying melodyne because it results in eventual corruption of the audio (for instance, you can't fix a bad edit after rendering, and sibilants get worse over time)

Yeah, this usually works. Worse case I have both the original and a bounce of my work. I have once applied a new region effect to both and copied the edits from the bounce to the original, to recreate what was lost. Bleh.

I guess I'm a early adopter when it comes to using software as designed. The promise and power of non-linear editing is so compelling, I prefer to use it, but is so new it is still unstable.

This is still a problem in 2017.10.

Are you using Melodyne as a Region FX? as is intended in SONAR that is what the ARA integration is for.

Yes of course. As per my post, the plugin is being used as region effects, not track inserts. If you look at my second screenshot, you will see what it should look like with proper multi-track use of ARA. This is what my project(s) look like when I create them, and after I have recovered from the error. The First screen shot shows what happens when I load the exact same project and it glitches out: all regions are empty and the track icons in the melodyne instance are showing a different mode. I used to think that my project was completely trashed but I have learned that most times I can close and reopen it a handful of times and it will eventually load correctly. Not always though, especially if there was a crash rather than a normal program exit.
