Pugtones do a "Bar Rocker" feat. Dave Logan, Dave Townsend & Michael Eastman

Howdy y'all!  Gettin' some strength back but haven't been up here for awhile.  Sorry.  We were able to finish a new original tune called "City Song".  We had some special guests on this one/  Dave Logan, Dave Townsend and Michael Eastman.  This used to be an acoustic song but I always had "Rocker" in my mind when we did it.  I hope we've achieved that.  Dave, Dave and Michael were great in their cooperation and their contributions.  Thanks, Guys.  Mark and I hope you guys like it.  Thanks in advance for listening and commenting!

Good one Warren!  I like the instrument separation you did.  I like the bridge.  Solo has good energy as do all the parts.  Snare is light IMO.  Bass sounds good.

the bass player must have mixed this!!!!

this is great guys!  kudos to all!  really love it!

personally, I'd bring the bass down just a hair, tho.  I like that the bass is driving the song, but I think it's just a tad too hot.

FANTASTIC tune!  Sounds like you guys have been playing years together. Mix is really clean and has great tone separation. The structure of this piece gave me a ZZ TOP vibe. DIGGIN that bass line! KUDOS GENTS!

Lynn- Well, thank you.  You know, it was fun to do.I'm happy that you liked it!

Rimshot- You know, Mark doesn't always separate the instruments like he did in this one.  He seems to know when to do it.  I agree, I loved it.  Thanks for listening and commenting!

Ed- Thanks for tappin dem toes and letting us know that you did!  :-)

    Scotty-  You're f-f-f-funny!  Thanks!

Dave(Logan)- Back atcha, buddy.  The drums were perfect.  I'll be talkin to you again.  Enjoy that Nashville studio time.

Hot dog ---  this is a tire smokin' rocker.  It makes you want to get up and move it. I'm loving it.  Great change ups and everyone gave excellent performances.  The timing on the vocals is perfect and Mark did a great job on mixing the mix/production.  I'm glad you're on the mend and putting out the songs again Warren.

    Hey, Warren,

Glad to see your getting back in shape, buddy!  Very cool and fun song!  Now that's what I call rock 'n roll.

Excellent job by all of the players.  Great vocals, dynamite guitar tones and tasty solos, hard driving bass and punchy drums, amazing keyboards, and Mark did a super job on the top notch mix.

    Fantastic collab, guys!

    hey warren, diggin' this one!
it's got a real infectious groove, and the performances are great.

    production critique-

when you do the line "that's why i'm out on the highway".... that ought to be mixed hotter, or double up on the vocal tracks, or add harmony guitars along with the vocals, or something, to make that really stand out, cuz that's one of the good hooks.

    bass IS phat...
but i like it as long as it's not stepping on anything else.
the kick's got a nice 'tap' to it, so no problem there....
bass mix reminds me of mcCartney type mix

Reece- Ha, that sly bass player sneakin' over to the controls and tweekin the volume!  I've been workin' on some old tunes and they were bass driven songs.  In my earphones it is loud and in my monitors it's.....mmmmmm.... loud!!  :-)  Thanks for listening and commenting!

Ed- I wondered if you would exercise your licensing authority.  LOL!

Bitflipper- I just figured out that Bitflipper must be a computer term.  No?  Hey, what's wrong with your ears?  I asked Mark to tone down the cowbell to it's current volume which is still too loud to me!  ;-)

    Philz- Thanks, man!

Grant- Thanks for listening.  Life treatin' you ok?

Kev- Thanks for listening and commenting.  ZZ Top is a great vibe to give.   Hey, glad you liked the bass.  This was fun to do.

    Hi Pugtones,

This is great!  Fantastic, clean mix with great performances from everyone.

Love the bass and the guitar playing has really killer live energy.  Nice keyboard parts and, of course, an outstanding vocal performance by Warren.

    A great listen.

Yeah... this is so cool.... I knew from the very first few seconds that I was gonna like this and I do..... all the way through.

The bass is sweet..... I'm a closet bass player..... with no bass guitar. Love the tone.

And I was thinking it needed more cowbell when I happened to read Bit's comment to the same issue. This is a song that could use some in your face Karyn style cowbell....

    good to the last note.

All of the tracks that were sent to me were so well recorded with great feeling, emotions.

I was walking down the street the other day and a beautiful young lady approached me and asked "hey, aren't you the newest member of the Pugtones? Can I have your autograph?"

OK, so no, that didn't really happen.

But here's what DID happen...some seriously heavy hitters came onto the Songs forum and said they liked a tune that I played a small part in. Now, that's something.

Freddy- Thanks for listening and commenting.  This was a fun tune to do.  I am happy to say that I am doing well.  Thank you!

Bob- Thanks for the kind words.  Great to hear from you!  I'm glad you liked our tune!

Markno- Thanks a bunch!  Even just having the Eagles name on the same page as something we did is a great honor.  They really are my favorite band.  My ex-bandmate writes music with Glen Frey.  Anyway, thanks for listening!

James- Thanks for listening and for all the nice words.  I hope your +1 is doing better!

Rob- Thanks for listening, buddy!  We always listen to your suggestions, so thank you.  What did you think?  Too much cowbell?  :-)

Frank- Thanks for taking a listen.

Gary- Wow, thanks, buddy!  Thanks for listening and for the great compliments!

Herb- Thanks for everything you said.  Who plays bass on your tunes?  NOW, I HAVE A BONE TO PICK WITH YOU!!!  I went searching for" Karyn Style Cowbell" and can't get what I found out of my mind.   My 22 month old Grandson sat on my lap and watched with total concentration.  10 times!!  We both thought Joanie is quite cute!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhUBqQ2RsYE
I then found SNL version of More Cowbell.  I'm going with Joanie.  I can't get that stinkin' song out of my mind.  So, MORE COWBELL??  LOL!!!

jamesg- Thanks for lisening.  Michael said you couldn't have said anything nicer than "filthy lead guitar tone".  It made his day!  How's the weather down there with that owl?  Good to hear from you.

CLEAN- What was all that stuff about getting a real singer that can use a recorder?  LOL!  Nice job, pard!

bflipper- Don't tease now!  So, let's go back to the beautiful young lady...........  Oh, more than a small part!!
