Pull Down All Faders
Is there a command to set all faders to -INF? I started to say to "zero all faders" but that would mean nominal value of 0 db which is not what I want. Want I want is to pull all the faders on the console down to start a fresh mix. It's not that hard to do on my VS-700 console, but I do have to ensure I have unhidden everything, expanded all the folders, etc. It would nice just to reset all faders with a function key.

Would also be nice to be able to set a default level for new tracks. When I import from a recording session, I generally set all faders to around -10dB just to start having a listen to what I've got.

I'd like to see CTL-double-click reset all faders to 0 dB. Instead, it does a strange thing: the fader you clicked on goes to 0 but then every other fader gets the same adjustment. For example, if the one you double-clicked had been at -3, it goes to 0 and every other fader gets increased by 3dB. I see the internal logic, but not the practicality.

I'd like to see it toggle between -inf and default value as well.
StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen. I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

Hmm, yeah. The program model is "quick group adjust all faders by +/-X dB", but the user model is clearly "quick group reset all faders".

I'm not in my studio right now but couldn't you just hit Ctrl+A to select all then hold the Ctrl key down while pulling down a fader (as a control group) and they should all go down?

Simplest way I know to do this is: - Select all tracks
- Ctrl+click/drag any fader to bring all down to -inf
- Ctrl+double-click any fader to set all faders to 0

That's not correct. If you do exactly what I said, the faders will do exactly what I said. Also note it doesn't matter whether or not you lift your finger off Ctrl between steps 2 and 3.

Panning does work the way the video describes, and I do recall (seems like years ago) that the faders did work that way as well. I do believe some very different bugs were just being sorted out around the time of the release that you are currently using, which only affected users with tv for monitors, like me. Have you tried the latest? If I ctrl drag a fader down no matter how low it is, except -inf all other fader move exponentially (hope that's the right word) not relative, so that they reach -inf at the same time.

Not here. I just updated to .08 and behavior is relative with a slight tendency to behave exponentially but not all inclusively. All audio tracks seem to behave exponentially with synth tracks but not MIDI tracks. Ctrl+2x clicking still works relatively.

To follow up...I tried again today on a different project, and while I had no problem getting the faders to bottom out, I couldn't get them to all go to 0 with a ctrl+click. What's more, when I tried to Quick Group all faders, only two disassociated faders would follow each other. OTOH, everything works as expected on a new project. I will try to find out what the difference are between these projects, and report back.

there are still some bugs with this setup, when I tried it with pan just to confirm, it took about 4 attempts to get them all moving simultaneously, but the faders were no problem bottoming out and returning all to unity with the dbl click. this was on a new project for testing. I know very old projects have many issues, but I will test on somewhat old projects and see.

Okay...if I save the project that didn't work as expected as a bundle file, and then re-opened, everything worked as described in post #10. So I assume there's something inhibiting proper operation that the bundle file strips off. Or, maybe the project being built on an old template is the issue.

Update: I found a project where the "it doesn't return to 0 on double-click" failed every time, and sent it to Cakewalk for analysis. It's really weird, because everything works as expected in all the other projects I've tried. Hopefully having this rogue project will provide the requisite clues to figure out what's going on.

You bring up a reoccurring point Craig. I don't think I've ever started a new project since using SPlat. I have dozens of older ones I keep working on and keep having weird issues with. It would make sense if there was something within the cwp file that invokes older behavior patterns. But it doesn't make sense that cwp files would have the power to do that. Even so, I have saved many older projects in SPlat after editing them. After so many save-as'es the issues seem to increase as if they're carrying behavior over from every version of Sonar they were saved in, and that behavior is conflicting with itself. Maybe I should look into restarting older projects afresh in SPlat and see what happens.

Why don't you try Craig's tip above - save an errant project as a bundle, then re-open it in Splat? You have absolutely nothing to lose.

I have found similar, and using custom templates that were created with previous versions of SONAR can lead to some unexpected gremlins. I recreate my templates every year or so, that way I'm working from a reasonably fresh code. Just reduces "odd behavior". Plus, with the advances in SONAR, I've found I rely more on track templates that are universal..which enables my project templates to be simpler...easy to "refresh".

Created a new BASIC project in 2017.08 with 2 audio, 3 midi and 1 instrument track. However, the ctrl functions still do not behave 100% as Craig described. So project age doesn't seem to be at fault. Maybe geographical region magnetic variances are affecting it. I AM closer to the North Pole, after all. FWIW I don't use this feature and so it really doesn't matter to me how it's supposed to work tho I'm not alone as bitflipper, others, and the CakeTV video have noted.
