Now that I've heard a number of songs from you, I have to applaud your versatility. You always surprise even though your style and voice always are consistently great. This time I could hear some Jon Anderson in your voice. You got it!

LYNN versatility, i guess that comes from all the years i spent on the road doing cover gigs.... covered a lot of ground, it was a great learning experience, that's for sure. jon anderson, you know, that comment keeps coming up pretty consistently...... i personally don't hear it, but so many people have said that, i can only guess that the timbre of our voices must be similar. i love old Yes, but have never learned any jon anderson tunes, so i can't hold it as an influence. interesting perception, tho, i wonder if i could pull off an old Yes cover?! heheh thanks again warren yes, this one had a story behind it, it's a pretty simple love story. blah blah and they lived happily ever after. LOL still writing that story..... daryl you want a sucky song?! LOL believe me, i have plenty of those too...... i just don't post em. heheh, steven stills, i dig his stuff, i can hear that angle, yeah. thanks for listening foxwolfen another anderson comparison..... what i really should do, is dub several old Yes tunes into sonar, then learn them and track my voice along with it (karoake style) and listen and compare. that'd be a neat experiment... meanwhile, i'll just roll with it. i really cant do it any other way than the way i do anyways, so there's no point in trying to change it! thanks for the comments

No one mentioned the Steve Howe guitar work , the vocal has overtones of Anderson. Outstanding piece of work loved it, mix. playing. vocal. guitar. tune.

Now that was beautiful and I loved those little harmonics you had going on in there. The vocals were just awesome in this song and the congos/drums were working just wonderful toward the end. An overall great production on this. Peace be with you. Blessings, John 5 Star piece of work!

Hey, Rob, Killer song with dynamite acoustic playing and tone, and monster vocals and harmonies, as always! Definitely an early Yes vibe, and the tasty percussion work and the warm acoustic tone in the well textured mix sort of gives me an ELP "From the Beginning" vibe. Excellent stuff, man! Bob

WOOKIE thanks man. twisted6s appreciate the kind words whack yea, i guess it is a bit different than what i mostly post... but i record a lot of this kind of stuff too. and no, i don't do this for a living, i just like doing it. timidi thanks for listening, yes, csn&y would be a touchstone. miguelito thanks mike, for hunting for the right phrase! heheh purple appreciate it terry. fox i did understand what you were saying, and i really appreciate that. theguitarplayer thanks john, the congas were real fun to play on this one... you'll notice the meter is not very tight, i literally just made this up on the fly, with no click, just played a very natural rhythm, so it speeds up and slows down, and there is some hunting going on! LOL bob appreciate the listen and comments.... elp... from the beginning.... i had not even thought of that one, but i can hear that, yea....... jamesg1213 thank you for checking this one out. glad you liked it.

Pretty darned good. I love the vocals... those harmonies were TIGHT! The overall sound was beautiful. I could hear the mistakes but I'm sure if you made this a real project you could do an even better version. As it is, it is still rather humbling and I may not be able to work on my current project until my ego recovers. I, too, can hear the similarities with Yes and Jon Anderson. If you ever decide to do a cover I suggest Owner of a Lonely Heart. I can totally hear you doing that one.

Wow. Great sounds and a wonderful tune. Just as a personal preference, I would have liked to hear the vocals just a little louder. Not that they are lost in the arrangement, but I found that I had to turn the volume up quite a bit from my normal listening volume to get them to fit right. Listening at lower volumes they could use a bit more volume to balance against the guitars. Glen

Not my cup of tea but I can apriecaiate the talent you have, it was a bit Porno for Pyros's for me. I brought one of their albums in the 90's and I liked one of their songs but I was never really sold on their sound. But don't listen to me I am being a picky prick, everyone else here seems to have dug it. As always faultless production and engineering, hmm I'm a little jealous when it comes to your production skills. Nice work all the same. Peace Ben

chappel the harmonies in pura vida, were kinda made up on the fly..... honestly, they should have been tighter... but these days, i feel more inspired to capture more rustic versions of things... i don't want a super slick over produced product, never have, really... i want it to have a bit of an edge, not too worked, out, just rock and roll, basically.... and to my mind, rock music, means more about feeling than chops and super tight work. that said, some of my favorite tunes thru my life, have been ultra tight slick produced stuff (eagles, queen, dream theatre, etc)..... and yet i still listen to the stones with frequent regularity. LOL

gcolbert thanks for the feedback on the vocal mix. everybody like something different, i find... and honestly, i guess i just have to take a stance for low volume versus high volume mixing... i do both, and try to check, just like you said, for low volume playback clarity. on my system, i have to trust what i hear, based on studying pro mixes... and the vox volume seems fine to me, at low volume. so, this really segues into a part of mixing that i find fascinating, and i hear it all the time... how loud should vox be? i take old classic rock tunes that i love, and it's all over the map. some vox are just obviously WAAAAY TOO LOUD...... and i love it that way. that was a great producer's call, i guess... and other vox (a lot of early stones is this way) is just buried... and i love it that way. i don't know, sometimes, i just hate hearing a clear and upfront vox, when the performance on it's own, just doesn't warrant it... or, sometimes i just want to hear the vox as another musical instrument, and let the whole thing come into focus together. that's what i tried to do on this particular mix..... i wanted it to have a sound that would draw you in. i do not mix for the lazy casual listener!! LOL and i would guess, that a lot of pro mixes, mix exactly for that. they say 'this is a singer, the song serves only the singer, so everything get behind that!' heheh and i'm more about trying to find an identifiable 'band sound', in as far as i can push the singer/songwriter/one-man-band concept. thanks for listening and commenting glen!

ben porno for pyros, i haven't heard that name dropped in a long time!! in fact, i was singing 'we'll make great pets, we'll make great pets' the other night, for some reason i cannot even remember!! LOL oh, yea i do..... the local police are retiring two K-9 unit dogs this weekend, and they said on the news "they will be someone's pet now......." heheh well, comparisons are always going to be made... but i never try to write to sound like anyone but myself. i just can't do it, even if i try. i did a collab with xenophile, a cover of Deep Purple's 'Highway Star', and even tho we covered it pretty much note for note, it still sounds like me. LOL thanks for listening
