Daryl: Really nice song here. Well written, good, solid production. That major to minor change rules! Nice choice there!

One thing...nothing bad, just something I'm curious about as you may have done it by choice. When your crash cymbals hit, they seem like they swell in gradually. Did you want them to do that? If not, if you are running compression on the drums or a limiter or para-comp...it may be a bit too much. That's what usually causes that. If it was by choice, that's fine...just figured I'd throw that at you.

Everything is really great on this though. Nice voice...very soothing and your instruments choices were top notch! Loved the song and the arrangement. The back ups with the filtering/eq were a really nice touch too! Well done. :)

Rus - thank you so much for your compliments. Yes, it was about the current Mrs Daryl1968 but I tried to keep it vague. Re-read the lyrics and think of any faith.

Well, that was sweet of you! ou two should tour together! :)

Love this tune! If only you'd finished it up 45 years ago, it could have been a Micky Most hit. Peter Noone could have sung it and John Paul Jones would have arranged the pizzicato strings.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Danny - thanks for the listen I'm glad you enjoyed it.
The drum sound was genuinely a choice - I was trying to make the whole rhythm section including tambourines and hand claps sound like it was all recorded at the same time with just a couple of mics. I ended up using 3 mics and very little compression - mainly eq.

Beags - thanks me old china

Polarbear - thank you kind sir. I will be calling Hugh Grant first thing on Monday morning :) Wouldn't it be nice.

Scottytunes - thanks. I was going for the Buddy Holly pizz vibe. Loves me some Buddy.

RusW - not sure we'd be able to tour together - we like different coloured M&Ms and I'm not sure hospitality could cope

Jan - wow thanks mate. I'm really glad you liked it :)

Bit - thanks a lot. 45 years ago I wasn't quite born but sixties stuff is definitely my thing - love it.

Really like this Daryl. Well done.
Very melodic catchy tune.
Love the sparseness in the verse.

Ah ok. Well, everything sounded good to me Daryl. :) I just thought the crashes seemed to swell in a bit instead of crash. You know, like when a crash hits, it sort of hits instantly....where your crashes seemed to almost sort of fade in? It's definitely a cool sound...probably the mic position as I've sort of gotten something like this before when mic'ing my cymbals.

Listening to it again...if it had a direct crash, it probably wouldn't work. I'm sort of used to that fade-in thing now. LOL! See what happens when you deliver a cool song....everything ends up being acceptable. :) Really love the vocals on this...had to mention it again. :)

It's a shame that most of the music hear never makes it past the forum members. This song IMO has so much going for it.  From the chord progression/arrangement to the lyrics/vocal delivery its all good.  GREAT piece of music/mix, Daryl!
