Puzzling trouble with CD/DVD burners...

Hey peeps,
I've got a mystery I'm hoping someone can shed a little light on.  I was recently having trouble with my no-brainer cd burning software (burnaware) in that it would burn an audio disk fine with no errors but then it wouldn't play with out digital hash and chatter.  First I upgraded to the latest version.  No love.  Then I uninstalled that and got Ashampoo's latest version.  Same thing.

I also have CD Architect (which is overkill for just burning a quick disk) on my DAW so I tried that and it works just fine.  Any ideas why two different software packages would exhibit the same behavior...but not CD Architect??

I'd put a problem driver high on my list of suspects.

Have you tried lowering the burner speed this time?

Welp, I did check the driver of the burner itself and it's AOK according to Windows. Another funny thing is that when this first happened the disks would play on anything else but NOT my DAW where they were burned...that's why my initial thought was a bad burn drive. But it appears not. Now they won't play at all on other devices.

#LAWP...here's more of my dimwittedness...I've never even used Windows own burner...I'll give that a whirl.
