Q re: clip efx rack....
How can you avoid the click using the Clip efx rack when it switches between efx? EG I am using one reverb effect at the start of a track, then changing it 16 bars later. Even though I have a split clip when the effect changes there is an audible click...and if I don't have a split, the second effect does not run...the track stays with the efeect selected for the first clip efx rack set.

You can only have one clip fx rack in a clip... If you combine 2 clips in some manner a number of things might happen situation relative...
You might consider using a track fx and simply automating the change(s)... Or you may use an sus bus for a reverb send?
What is the reason/need for using clip fx?

Regarding the click. Did you make sure that the clip is split at a zero crossing point? Otherwise, as Keni said. Best of luck.

Yes... As Zargg said... I thought about that too... Or any abrupt start/end of room sound or such... Maybe needing clip fades? Another item I might mention is that if you're using reverb if delay fx, they will start/stop abruptly at clip boundaries and not their programmed characteristics unless the clip lasts long enough beyond the event... I typically use clip fx for special situations of corrective EQ/compression, but more often I automate track/bus fx to keep my cpu load down

Reverb lasts only as long as the clip itself (the same is true of delay). So if the clip ends before the tail decays, you'll likely hear a click. I'd recommend putting the two clips on separate tracks. Add some silence to the first clip, then use automation to do a quick fadeout to take the reverb tail out of the picture when the second clip hits.

Clip fades or a second track were my first thoughts. If you need an abrupt effect stop, if it is a VST3 use automate host bypass otheriwse, try plug-in on/off (if it has one), try the wet/dry mix or put it in an FX Chain and use FX Chain automation.

thanks guys.... reason for the two efx is I want to start the piano track with a particular reverb for an intro, and then change to a "standard" type reverb for the body of the song. As the click cannot be avoided, I think the having two tracks approach using the automation fades will do the job. cheers

? Sorry Scook, does that mean sending the track to two busses?

Yes, one for each reverb and automate the sends

After the sends are created, the send levels will show up in the automation lane for the track. It can be automated just like any other parameter.
