Question Mackie control XT users -

are the extenders worth it? is the money spent for the extra faders worth the price, as opposed to switching through the banks. how many do you use? any experiences are appreciated! I'm considering a 2nd set of 8 faders.

They're an over priced convenience, but I love 'em... and so do the clients.

It's allot easier to mix with more faders, switching banks get annoying after a few sessions.

Mackie control plus 1 XT, im going to order another one soon though, most of my projects (compositions for media music) usually go upto about 24 - 30 tracks, it does get annoying switching banks, not so much on mixing (i do this in small groups) but on auditioning, hows the C4 working out Joao? and Steve, im loving that desk, im looking for a new desk myself, thinking of making one because of the expense, any recommendations for studio furniture.

    Cheers

    Hi Derek,

I did a lot of research and considered building my own desk, but I chose Omnirax because of the appearance that would be difficult for me to match on my own and because it's designed for use with a control surface as opposed to a desk designed for use with a mixing console.

That's a great looking desk, Steve, and I notice the Apogee D/A A/D. sweet.

This is for the Mackie control users. How is your fader response during recording automation? Do you get enough resolution in the fader? How do the servos feel? Is it silky smooth? I'm going to plunge into the Mackie Control world, I just need a few more satisfied customer responses.

    Thanks,

    Don

Totally satisfied with the faders here. Just be sure you download the latest firmware updates from Mackie for use with Sonar and the latest patches and updates from Cakewalk.

The faders are touch sensitive. The slightest touch or movement highlights the track and moves the fader in Sonar.
