Question: Sonar 4 / Kontakt

Can I do a normal recording from midi to audio using Kontakt (or any soft synth ) in Sonar ?
If I load a DXi then an audio track is created BUT it seems that the R (ARM) button is gone.
Subsuquent tries using an additional audio track doesn't work.

Just for the record my soundcard is a DSP Factory. Not sure if that would effect things.

When the DXi loads the input is set for Kontakt
The output is set to one of the sound card output channels.
Then each midi track is set to a particular midi channel.
I think this is the right configuration.

Thank you,
SA

    Welcome!

The normal procedure would be "bounce to track", and Kontakt has a bounce button to prevent problems in Sonar. But if you're having problems with this or for whatever reason: yes, you can also record a softsynth, IF your soundcard provides a control panel with a digital mixer application. I've described the method for m-audio delta cards, I'll post a link in some minutes. Should be easy to adapt the settings to your card.

    dreamkeeper,

Thank you for the link and clarification.

Had to sound like an idiot but doing a search through the Kontakt manual (2.0) doesn't turn up info on the bounce function. Can someone tell me where that is ?

    Thank you

Try going through the Sonar soft synth tutorial. It's in the manual and the online help files.
