Question about Octa Capture

Hi,
I recently purchased an Octa Capture, and so far I have been pleased when I record instrument tracks.  I have been trying to learn how to do Midi, with no luck.

As I am problem solving, I noticed that the connections from the midi cables to the octa capture are VERY loose.  In fact they basically feel like they are not making a connection at all and fall out from the weight of the cord.  I don't think it is the cords because they fit securely into my keyboard fine.  From other octa capture owners out there, does this sound normal, or did I get a bum Octa-capture?

I tried a MIDI cable connected to mine and didn't notice any "very loose" connections.  I only tried one MIDI cable.  I also tried the same MIDI cable on my Behringer BCF2000 and it was about the same.  I also tried it on my Sonuus GM2 USB/MIDI converter and it felt about the same way.
