Question about Posting Paintings online?
My Mom is an Artist, She hasn't done nothing for a year or so, but she's retired now and spends her days relaxing which is fine by me as long as she's healthy and happy.
She wrote a book on art when I was real young, we never had the money to get it published, some of her idea's on things were later copied that she had in her book because some of the art she wrote about in her book, she made stuff to sell at the flea market so that our family could just get by and have food on the table. I was really young at the time.
My Mom never graduated high school, but she took her G.E.D. and when she did she had one of the highest scores in the state at the time for the test, and that's after 20 years away from school. Sorry, but I'm just not that Smaut!
I could go on and on and on saying great things about my Mom, she always thinks of others and never of herself.
Which brings me to my question, and a few explanations first are required.
My Mom can do any type of art, she's taken and taught classes, but something I don't think she's ever gotten credit for was her Paintings, she has a lot of them.
She doesn't paint anymore, one thing she said was that some of the paints in the old days as she put it made her sick at times but she kept on painting because she loved to do art so much. Petroleum based paints I think, or OIL paintings as it's called. I know the times have changed, but you can't change history.
Anyway, sorry to reflect so much, but my question is, my Mom has a bunch of Paintings, mostly from 20-35 years or so ago and I was thinking about ways I could do something with them for her. To just take a picture and post them online would be a bad Idea because I think the idea would get copied, if not the actual picture because of the content, Some of them are very real life situations while other's are just plain interesting, they are all good in my eyes.
There's a few paintings I could mention that really hit home with me, and one of them is a painting of me fishing in a creek when I was probably about 13 years old or so, it makes me happy but sad because to think of all the things in the world my Mom could be thinking of or doing to paint at the time, she took the time to paint a picture of me fishing at a creek.
Any idea's on how I could get my Mom's Paintings out there to the public? I know it's like song's in a way, but when it comes to marketing art I'm in dunno land so to speak.
I've heard people say you have to do screen prints? I have no idea as to how you go about copying art. Although I've heard with hand painted portraits it can get real expensive, but that was probably 20 years ago.
Links don't help much, unless you've done what I'm talking about. Either way I'm open to idea's.
It's not about making money, I would just like to show others how talented my Mom really is with her Paintings.
She doesn't know that I'm working on this idea, I'm hoping to get something done before her birthday in a few months.
Thoughts? And thanks in advance, I really do appreciate any help on this idea.
