Question about burning a CD and Playstation II

I have tried several times to burn a CD of my music for my brother to listen to. The only cd player he has is a Playstation II at the moment.

I tried burning the CD with Windows Media player and made sure the disc was finalized, I also tried Roxio Music Lab 10 to burn the cd.
And a few freeware programs.

All the files were 16/44.

For some strange reason even though my brothers PS II plays audio cd's/dvds/games fine it says "No Data" and doesn't seem to recognize the cd that I give him.

The last attempt I made to burn a cd for him to listen to I tried the CD out first in an X-box, a Regular CD player, and on my computers CD player with no problems.

I was using Memorex Lightscribe CD to burn in my last attempt, although I have tried a Phillips CD-RW. The CD-RW Cd's I can only get to play on a computer or X-Box, they wouldn't play on a regular CD player or in his playstation.

Am I leaving something out? Or does PS II just not play CD's that are also lightscribe or CD-RW cd's?

One thing I haven't tried and this might be the difference, I have been burning .WAV files, not .MP3 files to the CD. Although they seem to play fine in a regular CD player I just can't figure it out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Bobby

"no data" makes me think that you are burning the CD as a DATA CD instead of a MUSIC CD.  those are 2 different formats.  also, do not burn on a CDRW.  burn only on a CDR.  CDRW's are not compatible with audio only type players.

some of those other players you've been trying them on WILL play data CD's and not just AUDIO CD's - but probably the PSII does not play data CD's.

Yeah... what Beagle said. If you buy DATA disks and burn music on them. it will probably play on most computers, but on audio players and other players, it might not play. I used data disks for some time myself but they would not always play on the CD player in my truck.

Use AUDIO CD's and they should play OK.
