Question for Eli Krantzberg if he's looking in

Hi Eli,

I just noticed you have a Melodyne course on Groove3, and that it's copyrighted as 2010. Now I would always prefer to go through one of your courses before tackling the manual in its entirety, but I was just wondering how relevant the Groove3 tutorial is to the X3 Melodyne of 2013 before I commit to watching it?

Thanks!

James

I got the Melodyne video from Groove3. Its a great video explaining working with melodyne. For someone just starting with Melodyne I think is a must and at $5,00 nothing to break the bank with. The melodyne site also has a lot of tutorials to choose from and it doesnt cost $5,00.

I have an annual pass so won't have to pay any extra for it....I just wondered whether Melodyne has changed in functionality since the video was made.

Hi All,

Yes, the Melodyne videos, although a few years old, are definitely relevant. The thing with that series is that half of it (approx) is devoted to Melodyne Studio, which isn't particularly relevant. But the other half definitely is. The fundamentals of using the editor haven't changed. There are tools and functions covered in those videos though that the slimmed down version in Sonar X3 doesn't contain (formant shifting, shifting individual notes in polyphonic chords, etc). But I still think a significant portion of it is useful and relevant. And yes, I did do an addendum to the original series about a year and a half ago when the new version came out. There were half a dozen or so new videos that I added on covering the new features.

PS: Don't know if anyone noticed, but I just finished a series specifically covering the new features in Sonar X3. Motivated in part by getting my ass kicked in these forums! :-) Unfortunately some of the new features were crashing the beta I was using at the time of the Sonar X3 Explained videos; that's why I didn't touch on as many of the new features then as I would have liked to originally.....

Eli, off topic, but I loved your jazz series.

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.
