Question for Jim

Since you build Clevo systems, do you have a source for Clevo batteries for older systems? I can't find anywhere reliable to purchase a new battery for my old P170EM, which still does just fine other than its old battery.

Googling clevo p170em battery brings up a bunch of sources for me. Have you tried that?

Yes and the battery I got which was rather expensive is garbage. Doesn't even last as long as my 4 year old battery. There are a lot of crap battery dealers out there, hence I figured I'd see if someone trustworthy has a source :)

    Yes, that battery is $125.
Shoot me a PM or an Email (jim at studiocat.com)... and I'll forward the link.

I'm trying to get a refund from the people I ordered the battery from. If I can (which is up in the air right now) I'll go and order one from you.

Though at this point I'm considering just ordering a new laptop instead :P

FWIW, I wasn't trying to sell you the battery.
I was going to put you in touch with a distributor that has it in stock.

Gotcha, well I'd be happy to go through you, or them. Though at this point, since my vacation is coming up soon I may just have to deal with what I've got and maybe look at getting a new laptop from you when I get back.

Batteries are expensive in part because of duty cycles. This is where you drain the battery completely. If you never completely drain the battery, you might be able to get a much less expensive battery.

Batteries that can be drained completely repeatedly are expensive. A car battery is an example of a battery that is not designed for a high number of duty cycles. Laptop batteries are the opposite. Users regularly drain them dry. For this reason, most laptop users will not be happy with bargain batteries.

This does not mean that bargain batteries don't do what they are meant to do. If you only want the battery to be able to carry your laptop from the kitchen to the den without shutting down, a bargain battery well do you. But if you drain it dry a few times, it may become worthless.

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

I'm mad because I didn't buy a bargain battery, I paid $125, same as Jim says. I always try to get original parts, when possible, but Sager doesn't sell batteries.

    ...

However it looks like maybe impatient Sycraft was just impatient and all I needed to do was cycle it a few times to get the laptop calibrated to it. It seems happier now.
