Question for guitar players

I have a Charvel electric guitar that was left by a deceased relative, but I don't know what model it is. There is some writing on the head and it looks like Martin, can't be sure. I see by doing some google that it could be a De Martini, and if I recall, it has a snake skin finish.  The serial number is 9741. Could this be a De Martini? Is there anything else I should look for? Thanks.

I emailed a friend of mine who is fairly knowledgeable about Charvel guitars, and will let you know if he knows anything about this particular one.  Does it look all original from what you can tell?  If it is a DeMartini it could be worth some serious dough-re-mi, but I don't know enough about them to know for sure.

Thanks, leapinlizard, it looks like it has never been played, absolute mint condition. The case is the same way. I appreciate your help.

I do remember that Warren De Martini did have a snakeskin finish Charvel in the 80's.

If your guitar looks like this one:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Charvel-Custom-Shop-Warren-DeMartini-Signature-Snake-Heavy-Relic-Alder-Body-/331489702016?pt=Guitar&hash=item4d2e537080

then you may have hit paydirt.  According to my friend (and Leadfoot, above) Warren DeMartini did play Charvels and had a snakeskin finish on his.  Does it have a maple fingerboard or ?  You may have a real prized possession in your hands - wish I could buy it from you, but I'm afraid my $100 wouldn't go too far on this deal!

If you Google "Charvel DeMartini Snakeskin" you can click on the "Images" tab at the top of the page. I am not familiar with that guitar but there are a few different varieties to both build and pattern. Clicking on images will typically route you to more verbiage on what the guitar is.

This link may work (same method of search as above)

Edit: Looks like the link worked. It appears the "signature" series is signed on the back of the headstock (dead giveaway for you).

Thanks all for the replies. The guitar is not at my residence and it will probably be a couple of days before I can get to my relative's house. I will check it out more thoroughly with your tips in mind. I will post back what I find. Thanks again!

I finally got the guitar, it does have a bolt on neck which I believe is maple, and it does have a signature on the back. I will have this guitar on ebay within a couple of days. There will be ample picture there.

Condolences, but your relative left you a nice guitar.

I saw your pics on the Cockos Forum (via search).

Looks like the "Charvel Custom Shop Warren DeMartini Dinky Electric Guitar Snakeskin".
Plug that into Google ... but MusicZoo have a good pictorial comparison ( where your pic is from @Mettulus ;) ). They do say it's s/n C9071 (not 9741 - but then serial numbers are usually unique(?) - it's model numbers that are the same).

Retail: $3499.99 (street $2900), they HAD it on sale for $2699.99 (out of stock).
(EDIT: Doh! - Sweetwater have the new model for $1399.99 (pre-order) - note the pic has chrome vs black 'hardware').

    Review at MusicPlayers.

    Happy Ebaying.
