Question on East West keyswitch issue in different MIDI channels

Hi all,

Using the latest Steam version of SONAR. I recently discovered one thing which I'm not sure if it's an EWQL issue, or is it SONAR-related issue.

I realized that when I insert a new EWQL synth, and add in different instruments to different channels within the same synth, when I play notes in one particular channel that coincides with the same keyswitch notes in a different channel within the same synth, the keyswitch notes in that channel also changes according to how the notes are played in the original channel.

Sorry it sounds confusing but to provide an example:

1) I inserted an EWQL synth for the orchestral instruments.
2) MIDI channel 1 is for French Horns, channel 2 for Violins, channel 3 for Tubas
3) At this section the violins are playing a series of high notes in Channel 2. The french horns are playing some others notes as well in Channel 1, while the Tubas are silent in Channel 3.
4) The high notes played by the violins (channel 2) also coincide with the keyswitch notes in French horns (channel 1) and Tubas (channel 3) (for example, an E5 is being played in the Violins channel 2, and E5 is the Marcato keyswitch for french horns in channel 1)
5) When I looked at the player for French horns (channel 1) and Tubas (channel 3), I see the keyswitch notes keep changing in accordance to the notes played by the violins! So in other words, I'm not able to select the keyswitch notes I want for French Horns and Tubas because the violins are screwing it up even though the notes should only be playing in Channel 2.
6) The same happens for reverse. I tried playing various notes in French horns, and whenever the notes coincide with the keyswitch notes in the Violins (channel 2), I see the keyswitch notes keep changing in accordance to the notes I played in French horns (channel 1).

Is there a way to resolve this? Of course, creating a synth for each instrument works but that will mean far too numerous MIDI channels for my liking. And I'm guessing since only the keyswiltch notes are affected but not the non-keyswitch notes, this could be a bug - either within EWQL Play software, or in SONAR?

Please advise, thanks for the help in advance.

Make sure when you add the instrument in Play, you modify the midi channel that the instrument will respond to in the Play browser. By default, Play sets the channels to OMNI. Once you've done that, then the matching midi track will only affect the instrument receiving on the same midi channel. What you are describing never happens to me and I usually load up 8 to 10 instruments per Play instance.

Thanks for the reply.

I just did more investigation and verified that:

Even though the keyswitch keys appear to change, the actual keyswitch remains as what I programmed it to be.

In other words, it's almost certain a visual glitch, but with no impact to the other MIDI channels.
