Question on Kontakt

Being a non keyboard player I haven't paid much attention to Kontakt. I am now using Ableton Live and Push and running into all sorts of cool libraries that require Kontakt- which Live can't use natively, I have a product that entitles me to a cross grade.but that is still $249. Some posts say you should just get Komplete and others say wait for Black Friday deals, I am bit unsure as to what I should get,

I am typing this at 35,000 feet. How cool is that? :)

Kontakt is awesome! You can do so much with it, but I would wait for Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals. Last year I upgraded to 5 for $49.

If you're not in a rush to get it, NI usually has a 50% off crossgrade/upgrade deal (at least once a year......maybe coming up this Black Friday) and that's probably the best way to get into Kontakt. After that, getting Komplete (again during deal times) will be a much cheaper path.

At the same time, Kontakt is just one item in the Komplete bundle and you'll get sooooo much more (even if you don't use all of the synths/libraries/fx's etc.....you'll still have a lot at your disposal). When this sale does takes place, see how much the difference it would be to get Komplete vs. just Kontakt and go from there. I'm also not a keyboard player, but do love using a lot of Komplete and the instruments included. The quality of sounds are top notch.

If money is not a factor, then go for Komplete Ultimate.

It sounds like upgrading to Kontakt and then to Komplete when the sale is on is the best way to go, I'll do some more homework and watch the Black Friday specials. Komplete Ultimate oh as a lot of Softube effects I would not have had to buy. 😄 I see the value in that monster!

Just for clarification, Kontakt is part of Komplete. So if you are planning to get Komplete at some point, don't buy Kontakt unless you absolutelyu need it now.

Thanks Dan - I did see that. My product doesn't qualify for a crossgrade to Komplete so it might be cheaper to crossgrade to Kontakt first. Looking forward to Black Friday.😄

Komplete is the way to go. It's a lot of stuff when you first get it. Just don't upgrade every year otherwise they've got you. It's the software equivalent of the Bodysnatchers.

Depends on if you're in an airplane or not.

Yeh, Kontakt is pretty awesome. It'll open up a whole new world of possibilities for you. Don't worry about not being a keyboard player - I am a keyboard player and half the stuff I do in Kontakt is via the PRV and mouse.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Yep in an airplane between omaha and Atlanta. Thanks for all of the advice. I will probably be using push it converting guitar audio to midi so I think it would be a ball.
