Question on build numbers
I was wondering, how do they decide what build number they give to a release?

I'm sure one or two of the 'day job' pro software engineers will jump in and answer this one!
But I assume it's simply orderly protocol to give a new build a controlled sequential number so all program team members know exactly which was designated the latest compiled version so everyone is on the same page work-wise. This probably happens very frequently, maybe daily, and obviously not all are publicly released, which explains why publicly released builds can carry sequence numbers way ahead of the last one. Well, that's my layman's theory - over to the pros!
