Question on my current setup and future setup with my POD products

Right now I have an EMU-0404 sound card and some Line6 products (KB37 and POD XTL).  I have each POD product going into a Behringer mixer and then the outs (the outs get summed to a Left and Right) and then into the EMU 0404.  Overall this has been working pretty well for me, but I'm looking to upgrade my entire setup which has got me asking some questions...
 
The KB37 has models of classic preamps.  I can hook a condenser mic to the unit, but since it goes through the Behringer mixer which has it's own preamp built into it, is the signal being compromised b/c it's going through the Behringer?  I'd like to get an interface w/ more inputs so I can have the KB37 and XTL plugged in directly and as well as the option to plug other things in - like several mics to record drums.
 
Hopefully this makes sense.  Any suggestions or experiences w/ these products and how to move forward?
