Question re: Dimension Pro

When loading a long sample into Dim Pro is it possible to create/edit loop points in the sample? Is it possible to "zoom" in on the sample to fine tune loop points?

Thanks

I don't think so with Dim Pro, but you can with DropZone.

No, it isn't an editor.  About the most you can do is place a sustain point in the envelope.  I think you can make loop points w/ SFZ, tho.

You don't need to use sfz files to add loop points... Simply click (to select) the second from last node, and press S on your computer keyboard. Next, select the node you want to start the loop from, and press L on your keyboard.

You don't have to use the second from last node as the sustain, but if you have say, 5 nodes, and select node 3 as the sustain and node 1 as the loop start, then it will loop between nodes 1 and 3 untill you release the key. When you release the key it will perform envelope stages (nodes) 4 and 5.

You can have a lot of fun with this, but it's best to load wavetables and oscillators rather than samples because i found you can't sustain and loop some samples indefinatly, such as a guitar string, for example. But you can with wavetables and oscillators.

    Wallis,

yes, but you aren't editing the sample, which is what I think els is asking about.  You are adding points to the amplitude envelope, which has much the same effect for many samples.   The question is kinda unclear, tho.

No, you cannot edit sample loop points within the sample it self with Dimension Pro--it had no waveform editor to do this.  You can define loop points and what to do with them by programming sfz directives, but that is different then editing loop point meta data that is embedded in the samples themselves.  To edit the loop points within the samples themselves you need an audio editor such as Sony Sound Forge or Adobe Audition.

The "Studio" version of Sound Forge should be able to insert loop points.  The full version does, but studio is only about $50.

Thanks Bob, I don't mess around too much w/ SFZ to know what it can and can't do - theoretically.  I do know you can mess w/ the sample info.
