we'll need a lot more info from you in order to be able to help. what are your computer specs? what soundcard are you using? is this your first time to use MC? did you let the wave profiler run the first time you started MC? what are you trying to play? something you recorded or something you imported? if recorded, how did you record it? using a mic? a guitar? how do you have them plugged in? if imported, what did you import? a wave file? an mp3? a midi file? give us as much info as you possibly can - we can't see what you're doing.

i appreciate your response. i use an HP laptop. i'm using MC4. i'm relatively new to it. i record my songs a note at a time using the staff feature in MC. I have a few in the file that playback with no problem. BUT this last one will not play back. maybe i miskeyed something, etc. It may be a loop problem or . . . I use the instruments provided in MC. nothing else is plugged in. i do not know what i did to change things but that seems to be the case. my sound card seems to be a Conexant HD-Audio Smart AMC HD2. you now know more about this than do i. Thanks.

What happens when you fast-forward or rewind the project?

In addition to all that...... So... using staff view to enter notes.....means MIDI. Did you do tutorial #8 to learn how to insert a soft synth to play those notes? How many measures is the tune? Is any of it Audio? Be sure it's "rewound" to the beginning and looping is Off. Instead of the space bar... does it work when you mouse click on PLAY?

fast forward works - i can move to the end and back to the start - when i press {ctrl-page down} it moves from measure to measure (the little green flag follows along). When i press play (space bar or mouse) the cursor jumps to the beginning and the next time i hit play the cursor goes back to the flag but it will not play.

i just noticed something different about the current project that will not playback. the title on the staff view reads song name - staff - Audio. the title on the songs that will playback reads song name - staff - MIDI. That may be the problem.

You may need to check what your keyboard shortcuts are set to. It's possible that the spacebar is mapped differently. Options-> keybindings -- Sorry, I think the space bar is a global binding -- -TAP-

That could be the problem, Jalesh, since you can't write notes and have it play as MIDI if it's an audio track. In essence, there's nothing there for it to play. Try it on a MIDI track.
