Questions about mixdown.

I used Sonar 5 right up until X1d, then updated to X2.  In S5, i was able to just select the Master bus and then select File/Export/ and then name the file, choose the options and the project would mixdown/render my file (to whatever I chose). Now, while using X2, if I select the Master bus, then select File/Export, I get an error indicating that "no audio was selected". So I have been selecting each/ track(s), then File/Export etc. YES! I understand I need to choose the options of events in tracks, fast bounce etc.  I posted previously asking this questions and the response was basically, "just select the Master Bus". I have tried 100 times and I get the error message each time. I have never been able to export/mix/bounce (whatever it is called) while the Master bus is selected.

So My questions:

1) I have noticed I still get the effects (which are on other busses assigned to the master) so I assume even though I don't have the Master bus selected, it is still included, plus all busses assigned to it? Am I missing something?

2) I have also noticed while mixing, I am having trouble hearing subtle things like delays and reverbs. Once I mixdown to 2 tracks, I hear them just fine, and the mixes don't quite sound the same in the 2 track version as it did while I was mixing. The mix is much more clear, could be good could be bad.   So I am in the habit of mixing down to a 2 track , 24 bit file and loading it into another project I use for quasi mastering, and then I apply any attempts at mastering. Has anyone else noticed this?

Why don't you export your full mix?  To do so, first select all tracks, then when you export, you will get everything.

Or..you don't need to select anything. Mute the tracks you don't want to export.
In the export dialogue box you can choose the source: Master, Tracks etc.

Before I hit the export button, I make sure that NO tracks are selected... then I go to a blank area below my tracks in track view and left click two or three times... then I hit W to make sure everything is back to zero.  Then I hit EXPORT.  Change the preset to "What You Hear."

I have had that problem before.  It may just be a quirk with the system, but that's my process or workaround, if you will.
