Questions regarding the $79 "upgrade" for TH2

I'm thinking that this upgrade sounds like it might be worth trying (I read up on the descriptions from the "Read on" link on the email I received).  However I see nothing about whether this will work with my Sonar X1 Producer version of Sonar (or anything about what version of Sonar is required - if any - perhaps that means it is workable with any Sonar?).  I bought the upgrade to X2 last June, but haven't yet had the chance to install the files I downloaded for that (needless to say I haven't yet spent even more money to upgrade to X3).

My other question is whether this upgraded version requires me to have some prior version to "upgrade" from, or if this is just their latest and greatest (thus "upgraded") version, not requiring a prior version to install?  Or perhaps I already have this (presumably the pre-upgraded version) on my system (installed along with all the other goodies) and never even knew about it?

Another disappointing thing I seem to have encountered in my journey to get this answered is that apparently Cakewalk no longer will support my X1?  I saw support links for X2 and X3, but nothing for X1.  They should support their "loyal customers" who have funnelled copious amounts of cash their way (from ProAudio days, and before when it was actually called Cakewalk, through several versions of Sonar (I see manuals for 2, 3, 7, 8, 8.5 on my shelf - plus download versions in between that I don't have a printed manual for), and now X1 and X2), not just their latest greatest software versions - IMHO.

Thanks for any information - I guess I've only got a couple of days to decide before the deal goes away.

Interestingly, even though it knows (or at least it says in the heading) that I joined on 11/7/2003, it still considers me to be a "new member".  How long do you have to be a member to loose the "new member" moniker?  Apparently 10 years 2 months and 22 days isn't enough :-)

It's an upgrade to the TH2 that came with Sonar X2 or Sonar X3.

You can only buy the upgrade through the cakewalk store. If you don't have either of those products registered in your Cakewalk account you won't be able to order it.

Once you buy it you will receive a serial number which allows you to go to the Overloud download site to download then register your product.

Member status is based on post count. I think most forums are like that. But I get your point. It's a misleading title...

gyoungdahl,

I did a little research at the overloud site and it says:

TH2 is available as VST, RTAS (ProTools) and AAX64 (ProTools 10 and 11) plugins, as well as a standalone application. 32bit and 64bit are natively supported. You can authorize TH2 on up to three computers that you own and one USB stick with a simple one-click software procedure (no hardware key needed).

It seems that it'll work in Sonar X1...

TH2 Producer is a scaled down lite version of the full bore TH2 software. The upgrade allows you to download the FULL version of TH2. It is a separate program on its own. Before you ask, the full package is worth every cent! I have used almost every amp sim package out there and TH2 offers more bang for the buck than any of them.
TH2 Full comes as a standalone as well. TH2 Producer will be available for use right along side of TH2 Full in Sonar. Plenty of options there for great sounds. I always have to talk about the Brunetti amps in the full version. They are absolutely mind blowing. Those amps alone make the step up to full version worth the price.

Sonar Platinum, Sonar X3e, Sonar X2a , Sonar X1 Expanded and 8.5.3 (32 and 64 bit), Windows 10 on a Toshiba P75-A7200 Laptop with i7 @ 2.4 quad and 8 gigs of RAM and secondary WD 1 Tb drive, Windows 10 desktop, Asus i5 @ 3.2 quad, 12 gigs RAM, 1 Tb drive, 1 500 gig drive, MOTU 24io, 2 Roland Studio Captures, Saffire 6 USB for laptop, Soundtracs Topaz Project 8 mixer, Alesis Monitor 2s, Event BAS 20/20s, Roland Micro-Monitor BA-8s, and 45 years worth of collecting FX, Mics, Amps, Guitars, and Keyboards!
