Quick Group Output Change for Multiple Simple Instrument Tracks.

Is it 'normal' behaviour to be unable to quickgroup a selection of simple instrument tracks in track view and change all their bus outputs at once?

    Nope.

I've just done it with 3 SIT's - a Dim Pro, a Rapture, and True Pianos

Works in console View and Track View

    Yeah! Double Platypus!!!!

when I import midi tracks from Sibelius, quickgroup will not work to change their outputs.  Its a bug that got introduced in X1 and remains in X2.  A little surprised only a couple of us complained about it.

I don't want to really ask this, but you are all using the ctrl key to first select your tracks, and KEEPING it pressed to adjust your parameters?

No this is a bug. CW has confirmed it. The workaround is save the project and open it up again and it should work.

Because the title is not about MIDI projects or opening a MIDI file and using ctrl quick groups to change the output I am not saying that a simple instrument track has this bug. I am saying that MIDI tracks when first imported or opened in a new project will not respond to quick groups and that is the bug. After a save and a reopen of the project they will. I no nothing about simple instrument tracks. I don't use them.

It must be getting late here, I'm misreading what people are posting.

I was trying to make it as clear as I could that I was not talking about simple instrument tracks. By doing that I probably made a confused situation more confused. My contribution is about MIDI files loaded into Sonar only. What sort of track they may occupy is not a part of my post.

In the past one could select all and change the MIDI out for all MIDI tracks. You can't do that any more and quick groups are supposed to handle this function. The problem is they don't when you first load up a MIDI file without saving and turning the project in a cwp file and reloading it.

I have nothing to say about simple instruments track at all.

Other observations: 1. mute cannot be quick grouped in Console View for a simple instrument track. 2. PC on/off cannot be quick grouped in Track View for a simple instrument track. 3. Sends cannot be quick grouped for a simple instrument track in both views (the selected track wont even change)

SIT have been improving ever since they were introduced but I still do not use them.

they are really helpful in reducing clutter, but the inability to change audio inputs (say to a l/r mono output from the synth), and lack of interleave button is annoying.

Yup some like them and are willing to put up with their quirks. Folders of audio and midi don't bother me. It is nice to have the choice.

I'm not sure what's going on but they all work as intended here. Is this just one project or all projects?

Off topic here, just curious what "quirks" people are finding in Simple Instrument tracks?  I havent done the 'old way' since Sonar 7.

Well for one you don't have access to the full range of controls like you do with split audio/midi

When they were first introduced they were exTREMELY buggy (for me) and I had a hell of a job getting one of my projects back to normal after they totally screwed up the track numbering scheme.

There were discrepancies between Track & Console view, gaps would appear in Track view where the "missing" tracks should have been. It was a mess.

But I haven't seen this behaviour in X2. I don't use them regularly, but I'll use them sometimes, when testing or debugging for other people.

    Like now, for instance.
