Quick Key Navigation to next clip on track?

In Pro Tools 10, I could select a track on the edit screen, then simply arrow left or arrow right to get to the top or bottom of a clip quickly. I like to use quick keys a lot.

Can you do something similar in Sonar Platinum?

Thanks - Bruce

Ctrl + PgUp/Down will move the Now time to Next/Previous Measure. I bound PgUp/Down without Ctrl to these functions because I use them so much. But if you're talking about selecting previous/next clip, SONAR does not have a shortcut for that, except by using 'Advanced Editing' mode, activated by hitting 0 on your NumKey pad (see the Ref. Guide for how this works).

EDIT: You might also want to look into using Markers and Next/Previous Marker navigation. I bound these to Ctrl+PgUp/Down.

This is another good reason to be able to tie markers to clips as Kylotan has been wishing for.

brundlefly: Thanks. I've got a few more things I've got to to do rescue some crazy corruption in a session but I will want to navigate clips this way since I came from the world of audio post production and find this really helpful in speeding up the editing process. Thanks - Bruce

Amazing what you can learn in a single day on this forum.

In advanced editing mode you can indeed move from clip to clip, and select clips forward and back, etc.  But it's some special cursor that moves, not the Now Time.  Is there a way to bring the Now Time to this 'editing' cursor, or to a selected clip ?

Once a (midi) clip selected in this mode, it would be nice if you could then invoke the PRV using the keyboard and have it open on the clip that is selected.  I don't think there's a keyboard equivalent to a double click ?  'Return' would seem natural, but that does other things.  Currently, using the keyboard to open the PRV always opens it at the Now Time, which may be far away.

Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, F7 was the shortcut for Now = From. This would set your Now time to the beginning of a selected note or clip. I forget what the new hotkey is because I immediately rebound the old one when it changed in X1 (along with F8, F9, F10, Ctrl+F9 and Ctrl+F10).

This should take care of setting the Now time, and then you can use Alt+3 to open the PRV, but I'm not sure about getting the selected track to change in the PRV if it isn't already the one you're working. I'd have to experiment.

I do like using keyboard shortcuts as much as possible, but since most PRV editing requires using the mouse, it doesn't seem inconvenient to select and open clips in the PRV using the mouse.

In 'Select mode' (NumLock+0+3) Alt+SHIFT+4 or 6 (L or R) will move the selection forward and back from clip to clip.  I found "Go to From" (already bound to shift-G) and that brings the Now Time to the beginning of the selected clip.  I had to bind "Go to Thru" to a key to move the Now Time to the end of the selection.

So skip from clip to clip to select desired one, shift-G to bring the Now Time to its start, and then the key I've bound to the PRV opens it up with the Now Time centered.

    Thanks !
