    Hi,

    Great stuff.

When you get done, watch Tom Dowd's DVD for the first hour. It says more about black music in America than anyone else, and explains a lot of it in the 50's and 60's and what became of it!

One of the best voices I have EVER heard in music, was a blues guy called "Mississipi Charles Bevel", and he used to be a technician at KPFK in Los Angeles, and he had given up music (this was 32 years ago) because he didn't like the business side of it and only played music for the love of it, and that was it. He would do concerts when asked and donated the money if I remember it correctly.

He introduced one song (and this was a 30 minute special on KPFK) that said ... I'm not a slave to anyone or anything. I'm free! And no one can take that away from me! And he sang an unbelievably beautiful thing after it. Very blues'y. Very good. You can find some notes on him, with a guy named "Chick Streetman" who accompanied him many times.

But to this day, that voice, is one of the purest, clean, smooth, and best singing I have ever heard in my life! I've often wanted to write to KPFK and ask about that video and get it. It's too special to not be mentioned, as many of the pieces you will see here also are.

As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!
