Quick question on Hex Cores

Getting ready to pull the trigger on building my new PC when one of my buddies talked me into a hexa core.  Off-hand, does anyone have a recommendation on a hex core, MoBo (4 slots for 32G of RAM), and Memory that will form a stable system for Sonar 8 (although ill be upgrading after I'm up and running).  I've been given the advice in the past to not always go with the latest & greatest PC gear (MoBo, Processor, etc) until you give the sound engineer professionals a chance to review it and make sure they all work well together. I'd appreciate any direction or advice.

Thanks!

sorry was asleep it seems i was thinking OCto core LOL...

the 3930k is the best buy and bang for buck and it over clocks very well..
however the quad 3820 is no slouch either..

    X79 over Z77 is a better answer..
