QuickFix (Build 308) Question:

Resolved potential instability in 32-bit SONAR when switching between tracks and buses with projects containing the ProChannel version of BREVERB or the Console Emulator modules

What does that mean for those of us seeing that exact same problem in 64-bit SONAR?

I was wondering the very same thing. It seems odd that only the 32 bit version would have been addressed.

I use 64bit and did some pretty extensive tests in my X2 Test project by looping a 22 track soft synth affair. Over an hour of continuous play while adding more modules to the PC strips, expanding and collapsing, moving around all over the place.

In that time I had zero crashes and zero PC glitches.

    Re:QuickFix (Build 308) Question: 2012/09/29 10:43:00 (permalink)
    Yes.

However, another poster reckoned he was having a problem with crashing the new build when moving effects around from a bus bin to a track bin. I tried to emulate the problem and I eventually got X2 to crash by moving R-Mix from a track bin to a bus bin while my project was playing.

The fault reporter popped up and I sent that into Cakewalk.

On a positive note, I tried that exercise with other plug-ins and I couldn't get X2 to crash, so it might be something to do with the more CPU hungry plug-ins, like R-Mix.

And, I don't think that I would normally move plug-ins around as much as I did for that test, so I still think I have a reasonably stable system at the moment...

+1  I've been away for the last week, but saw these issues before I left, in 64 bit.

I haven't installed the patch, as it said it only addressed the 32 bit.  Should I install?  Will it help?

The crash was more likely to occur in 32 bit hence the wording of the message. It could also occur on some X64 systems however. X64 has a habit of masking crashes when they are triggered by the user interface, so you won't always see them. The fix addresses ALL issues that could cause this kind of crash in both 32 bit and 64 bit, so it should definitely be fixed for you. Based on logs, the same crash could occur intermittently under a variety of seemingly unrelated operations (file save, bounce, VVocal) so you should definitely get this fix as a stability update.

I used X2 last night for about 6 hours with many console emulator and RMIX instances with lots of editing and moving and reordering plugins around and it was rock solid though the session.

and it was rock solid though the session.

Lucky you then Noel. I've sent off three fault reports this afternoon, and that was after having around two hours of "rock solid" performance last night with a large test project I've got on the go.

    With the fix.

This is my post last night explaining my project and how stable things appeared to be:-

and this is a more recent post where another user was experiencing an issue with Build 308 and I was able to emulate that issue:-

Thanks for your report. We'll investigate it next week but I feel pretty sure that what you are seeing is unrelated to the quickfix. From your notes in the other thread, you are seeing it only while moving RMix right? The only fix to RMix in the update had to do with a problem when switching to higher sample rates.
Send me a pm with your email address and the CWBRN you logged we can follow up next week and try and narrow down your issue further if you still have the problem.

I did some tests with no fix applied. Open the mixing cwb included as part of the download. Added breverb, console bus and track console plus put rmix on every track. Working 100% . No issue switching between console view either no crashes.
