Quicker Kontakt Instrument Selection Method?

So having purchased Kontakt 4.2.4 recently, I have no trouble seeing that there are some libraries to choose from.

But having also purchased some samples, etc. from smaller companies, they note in their docs that their stuff won't show up in the 'Libraries' tab, but must be navigated to from the 'Files' tab instead.

Now although this isn't difficult in any way, it sure is a pain in the arse.

It means having to do about 6-8 mouse clicks scrolling all the way through the computer menu tree just to load an instrument into place.

There must be an easy, faster way, isn't there?

Thanks Buds,

James

If there is I don't know it.  I've got all my "mom and pop" third party libs together in their own folders inside a "Third Party Libraries" folder.  But still...

Where you come from is gone...where you thought you were goin to weren't never there...and where you are ain't no good unless you can get away from it.

James,

If you right click in an empty area of the Kontakt rack it should bring up a Quick Load menu screen. (Search for Kontakt Quick Load on you tube and there are probably all kinds of instructional videos.)

Once you have found the instrument you want in the file list, you can drag it to the Quick Load menu and it will then be available more quickly than even using the Libraries tab. It will save both clicks and time!

Hope this helps,
kind regards,
Rick

Thanks Rick, I'll try that.

Just installing & authorizing RX 3, but will try right after that.

Ok, well it looks like that's the perfect answer. Works like a charm!

It also looks like I only need to drag the first instrument.nki file into the quick load window and then I can arrow left & right beside the instrument name in numerical order for all it's other samples.

But while I may still have you attention, I notice 2 other tabs there:
'Multi' & 'Bank'

Can I make use of these for this task as well?

I don't use banks but I do use the multi's. Same process as for an instrument file but click the multi tab, drag the .nkm (I think) file onto the Quick Load Screen and there you go.

The really cool thing about this is you can set the file hierarchy up into a really quick system by creating different instrument type folders and/or deeper if you need to go there.

I find it a real time saver and a great way to keep things organized.

Awesome!

I just opened the manual and found where I can read all about these options, and I'm moving & working with the files already.

A huge time saver.

A million thank you's Rick!

Hey thanks for that as well. I'll check it out.

I found there is a 'Quick Load' button to toggle near the middle at the top of the interface as well.

It's working like a charm now.

I did a 6 track recording using only Kontakt this morning.

Thanks once again to Rick for the heads up.
