RD300GX drum playback...

I'm brand new to this...  I have SONAR LE, and I can't get it to access the drum kits (maps?) in my Roland RD300GX.  I keep trying to follow the help pages instructions, but when it plays back I get GS midi instruments.  Can anyone help me?

Welcome to the forum.

When asking a querstion it would be very useful to tell your gear specs and how things are connected. I haven't got the slightest idea of what you have as a soundcard etc. or what you have tried this far.

So you have already the MIDI tracks output set to your keyboard but you don't hear the sound from the keyboards speakers?

If you want to play back the recorded MIDI with your keyboards drumspounds through your PC-speakers, the recorded MIDI must go from SONAR track to your keyboard, and the audio output of your keyboard must be connected to your soundcards audio in.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

I may not be using the right terms sometimes.  Please bear with me.

I have a Roland RD300GX connected to my laptop through a USB cable.  Sonar LE came with the keyboard.
The keyboard's audio output is connected to a keyboard amp.

I recorded several tracks (Acoustic Guitar, accordion, and a string patch) and the keyboard plays them back just fine.  I can change the track to other patches (sounds) and the keyboard recognizes the change and plays back the patches I ask for.  It seems to be using a Genera lMidi map for patch locations.

My problem is:  The keyboard has a number of drum kits onboard.  I can easily play them from the keyboard.  I can't seem to program patch change information into the SONAR tracks to call them up when I playback my sequence.

There are also Kick/snare loops in this software.  When I play them back they play piano sounds or other sounds.  Anything I want except drums.  Can you help?

Oh, now I understand. Unfortunately I'm not able to help. I've never dealt with such.
Is your keyboard in SONARs instrument list? That preset might help. The MIDI channel for GM drums is 10.

I'm actually a part time performer in Santa Rosa, CA, USA with Swing and Country/Western bands.  I want to us sequence to show the swing band my vision of arrangements.  I appreciate your suggestions and efforts.
I'll keep trying.  Thanks again,
Mark
